Lizzy is being beat up! Lizzy who is 1.6lbs is being beat up by her brother and sister who weigh 2.6 and 2.8 lbs....they pin her down and bite her something awful...I know they are just playing but I am sooo afraid they are going to hurt her bad.....she cries something awful when they do this.....this morning the little boy had her by the throat and she cough for about 10 mins. after this....sometimes she starts it but because of the size difference she has no control....they just over power her...what am I going to do...she needs to play! and I cant be with her 24/7. Right now the puppies are so aggressive...and biting and biting on everything.... Also I have to tell you what happened yesteday....we keep the pups in the bathroom when we are not home or at night and we put this big fold out chair by the door so they cant get out...(we have to keep the door open because of in floor heating or it gets to hot in there)...my husband came home at noon to check on the pups and one of the pups was down stairs just sitting there.....she had to go down 15 stairs to get there  ...Zoe must have pushed that chair out of the way to get to them....and when I got home from work the pups were out AGAIN!! I had to search for Lizzie who I found in my closet sleeping. We do keep a board in front of the stairs so the pups dont fall down but one of the cats must have pushed that down...I don't even want to think of what could have happened yesterday. especially if Lizzie would have gone down those stairs.....We could turn down the heat when we are not home and then close the door but zoe would go crazy trying to get in or out...another problem we have to find a solution to.. |
Try squirting them with water when they pick on her, or get an empty bottle of milk and put some change in it. When they attack shake the bottle and say No in a firm voice. I hope this helps. |
You may have to separate her from the other pups. MY breeder would separate the smaller less agressive pups form the more agressive ones. |
Heavens! YOu must seperate them. I had a litter once of only 2 pups, land the same thing happened. Even with the mother. I had to seperate them. I had to hold one pup while the other nursed also. It isn't fun, but they could seriously hurt it. Pat |

Thank you for your suggestions....I will definitely try the shaking method...I hate to seperate them because Lizzy would be really lonely without them....and its not really the other pups fault....half the time she starts it  so I will try the shaking for now and see what happens...lucky for me I don't have to work now until next week so I will be with them all day and night.....boy I never would have thought puppies would be soooo much work...I told my husband today that its easier going to work than to be home with them...(but I must say...not as rewarding) |
baby gate? Can you use a baby gate across the door in the bathroom? I keep mine in there during the day and that's what I do so they don't feel as confined or scratch up my door...when I come in in the afternoons they are sticking their noses through the holes barking and looking and me....mine are now 2.9 and 3.6 lbs...with a pretty good size difference...they play very hard...I just let them go until one (always the little one) cries...then I make them calm down.... |
I thought about a baby gate....the puppies and I are going to my parents house for the next couple of days and I'm going to need one there....I'm going to shop around tonight to find one...thanks for the suggestion |
I'd keep the little one on one side of the baby gate, the bigger ones on the other and make sure Mom gets plenty of time with both. That way they snuggle up against the gate and still be "together", but separate. |
Make sure you check the little one out . going down all those steps could have hurt it. |
