When I Touch My Dog's Ears.... ....does it tell me if he's hot or cold? I know this sounds ridiculous and possibly quite obvious but I've been wanting to ask. Sometimes when I grab Cooper's ears they are soooo cold and I automatically assume that he's cold. He's currently wearing a sweater. Maybe it's his lamby haircut. Or maybe he just has cold ears. |
I just checked mine to see how their ears felt to the touch. I have 6 ears all a little cool to the touch :D |

you cannot judge a dogs temperature by touch alone. Dogs run at a higher temp then people. Normal temp is 101-102 so they will usually always feel warm to the touch. Ears can sometimes feel cooler to the touch because they are really think and less hairy then other parts of the body. Plus they are an extremity so they are the first body part that usually gets cold. Like people fingers, toes, and ears. |

i know sometimes my fingers get cold when i'm typing on the computer a lot and my feet are cold from having them on the laminate floor even though the rest of me is fine. If the air in the room/outside is cold then i too feel it in my fingers/toes/ears first. maybe Cooper is tepid but not cold enough to shiver and the sweater made him room temperature? LOL |
