Just got back from the groomer!What do you think?He's silver now!

I'm kind of nervouse because Merlin is getting a trim next week.

I was going to take a pic with me,but I forgot.I just told them I wanted it short on his body,and a little longer on his head.Heres a side by side before and after pic.Attachment 320819Attachment 320820They wanted to get some hair out of his ears,but they couldn't because he kept crying.I feel bad,they were just pulling,not cutting the hair out of his ears.They suggested I come back next week for that,because he's been through a lot today.They said they need to get the hair out so he dosen't get an ear infection.There has got to be a better way then that to get the hair out though!Anyone else go through this.Should I just have the vet do it?

I always amazes me how much their colors can change when they are groomed. He is a super cutie. It is a good idea to have the hair removed from the ears. A vet would do it the same way a groomer does, and the groomer would probably be cheaper.

He's a handsome little dude in his new 'do'.

And yes, pulling the hair from inside the ears is a little uncomfortable (think plucking your eyebrows) but it's so much better than getting infections. It's something you can do yourself, a few at a time. That will save you $$ at the groomers or vets.

yes it needs to be pulled out. cutting would only trim the tips off the hair and not remove it from blocking the ear canal. Most dogs don't care when you do it because it is dead hair that is easily removed. puppies just arent used to it and i think it frightens them. I think it may hurt a little too with some of them depending on the type of hair they have in their ears.

It is a standard procedure to do during a groom before the ears are cleaned.
