What is the difference? Between a Parti and a Biewer? I've seen so many cute yorkies on here with the white coloring, some referred to as Biewer and some as Parti. Now I'm confused as to whether they are the same, or what the difference is? |
It depends who you are talking to, there are some Biewer clubs who believe that there is a good deal of difference between the two, while other clubs say no difference. Some parti breeders who also breed biewers say no difference while other parti breeders believe in keeping the lines different. The Biewer seems to have come from a parti yorkie, but Mr. Biewer bred them to get a certain look and certain coloring. I think he had a higher purpose than to just sell pets, and was interested in creating a complex variation of the Yorkie. There is a "standard" look to the Biewer, however, there is no written standard for a parti, it's just a yorkie with a color fault. Here's what the mother club of the Yorshire Terrier says about partis. Quote:

The Parti yorkie is AKC registered and the Biewer is not. the parti yorkie does have a standard and are shown in NAKC. the Parti's tail is docked and the biewer is not. Basically they are the same dogs just different registries. |

Also...Mr. Biewer knew he had a tri colored yorkie, as his 1st parti pup was produced from two standard colored show Ch's, and were not the result of a mixed breeding. However, he wanted to show his parti yorkies as a yorkshire terrier. It wasn't until the VDH refused to let him show his parti yorkie...that he then decided to rename them and write a new standard and show them in other venue's. To the OP...here is a link where you can find more info. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...formation.html |
