General Patton is Getting Neutered YT'ers Tomorrow, I will be taking General Patton to have some preliminary blood work drawn in order to get a baseline in anticipation of being neutered this Wednesday. Thankfully, I have no assignments this week so I will be able to take care of him. ;) I am so glad it worked out that they could do it this week on short notice and that I will be able to be with him when he recovers. In addition, on the same day, he is also going to be microchipped and his teeth also removed as he has double teeth on each side of his bottom teeth. He may have more but he is pretty particular about letting me go in his mouth. So, I am asking each of you to say a prayer that all goes well. I hate putting him through this, and I am really doing now because I've noticed he has been restless lately and I believe it is b/c of his bite which has been different with the double teeth. He tends not to like the dry food which I put it with his Canidae, and what he does is pick the dry and put it on the floor and eats the moist Canidae  Which I can't blame him, but it may be because of the bite problem. Sorry to ramble.... Please keep Patton in your thoughts and prayers. I am worried and hope all goes well. And hope the procedures don't change his personality. |
General Patton will be fine. I will have him in my thoughts and paryers. Please keep us posted. |
I'll be thinking about you and General Patton and wishing good thoughts for both of you. I'm feeling the same anxiety, Harley is going in Friday for all the same, plus he's having dew claws removed (vet said dew claws will be painful). :( I'm worried about a personality change too. I've heard they do change after being neutered ... but I love him just the way he is, so I sure hope not! Keep us updated on him, I'm sure he'll be back to himself in no time. |
Here's wishin good thoughts for the general. He will be fine :) |
Thanks Marie and Shireyak! And I will be thinking of you Diane and Harley. My thoughts will be for you both on Friday. Let's hope for the best. |

Maria, I will be thinking of him...I know he will be fine. Remember, he has lots of "Courage" ;) |
He'll be just fine - I know it's hard - but just a few days later - He'll be running all over and act like he never had it done. But he'll be in my prayers. Katie |
Im sure he will be fine. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. |
Don't worry, he'll come through with flying colors I'm sure. Such a brave General! Hugs to the crew! |

Thanks gals(and guys too) Well, I just returned from the Vet's. Took The General to have bloodwork for a baseline prior to his surgery tomorrow. Guess what? My General now weighs at 9.2 lbs. Is he a Porkie or what? Anyway, thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers for tomorrow. I am a bit apprehensive but know its for the best. |
My little Samson is at the vet right now getting neutered and having any teeth removed if needed. So I'll keep all of the pups on this thread having surgery soon in my prayers along with my Samson. :) |
Hey Maria! Little Zeus and I will be praying for the General!! I know he will be just fine. :) |
We'll be praying for a speedy recovery. I'm glad you'll be home to take good care of him. |
My Brudder Patton.... Awww....Little Sister Sophie will be thinking of her Big Brother tomorrow..... Hugs and Puppy Kisses.... |
I'm sure he will be fine...got both of mine done now and I'm glad it's over! |
We had out boys done at the same time...neutered and teeth. I felt terrible having it done but I knew it was the right thing for us to do. As for personality, Milo ( the youngest) was always very loving but on his own terms. Now, he is MUCH MUCH more wanting to be cuddled and loved on ! I had heard that that could happen but he really loves to be loved now where before he would stay away from you if he knew you wanted to nuzzle with him. Will say a little prayer for your baby ! |
Fagan and I send hugs to the general... Good luck...he'll do great I'm sure :) |
Maria ~ How is General Patton doing after his surgery? Give me all the details so I'll know what to expect Friday when Harley gets done. |
Dianne and Fellow YT'ers Well, got home about two hours ago. They called me midday to tell me his surgery had gone well. He had four puppy teeth removed, three of which had "roots"(they looked like fangs, hehe. So, he may be more sore than usual cause they had to work hard to remove those teeth with roots. They even kept them for me so I could keep. I was so excited about that because even though I had some I had found that had fallen in the past few weeks, I had not thought of asking them to hold them for me. No wonder he was having trouble eating. Poor thing. So, I am so glad now. He was so happy to see me that he piddled. I was told not to bathe him Sat. to leave the stitches 7-10 days. He also was chipped and neutered. He seems to be licking on his privates. They told me to give him something every 4-6 hours starting tomorrow, which may sedate him a little. He has eaten fine. They told me to give him just a little food and if he didn't throw it up after ten minutes to give him some more. So, that is what I did. No problems yet. He has gone up and down the stairs as though nothing has happened and then halfway down the steps he realizes he is hurting and stops for a few seconds. So far, so good. He is somewhat sleepy, but not a lot. Dianne, I worried so...but all is well. I will be thinking of you and Harley. Thanks all for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. |
So Happy Patton did well... I've thought about you and Patton today.... Bless his heart...I'm so happy he is home and I know he is too! ;) Sophie sends puppy kisses... :) |
I'm glad General Patton is doing okay and that it's all behind the two of you. The closer it gets to Friday morning the more my stomach churns worrying about how Harley will do. I can't believe I'm so nervous about it ... I just hate the thought of our babies being in any kind of pain. Is General Patton back to normal today or still pretty sore? |
