new to site with random question... hi, i have a yorkie, sebastian (bass) and he is 4 years old. he always sleeps with me but he has gotten in the habit of licking my pillow cases and duvet covers... does anyone have a problem like mine? why does he do that? is there a way to make him quit, other than making him sleep elsewhere? thanks, natasha. |
One of mine does that and also licks the carpet. I never knew why either. |
gosh, i don't know either... someone once told me it was because they were bored. i don't know if that's true or not but i do know that i wash my pillow cases more often than i actually want to. |
I thought I had the only weird boy. Dante loves licking pillows and he has a hair fetish also. Right after I finished Friday with UKC I came home from work and he had licked and chewed a chunk of hair right in the middle of her part. I was crying when I had to cut her hair down. |
I think they like the sent. You could spray your items with Bitter Apple Spray. You will probably have to re-spray often. |
My two lick the comforter on the bed and leave a wet spot. They also love to grab underwear and run away with it! |
One of mine licks my pillowcase. i just figured it is the hairspray I use. |
Mine does that too.. |
I haven't ever had mine lick the pillow case, but wanted to say Welcome to YT!! |
Glad that I searched for this....I'd like to know as well. We have five Yorkies, 3 male and 2 female. We take turns letting them sleep with us. For some reason, the boys (and only the boys) lick my pillow (I'm the dad). They never lick my wife's pillow..only mine. I now have to put my pillow up until I come to bed because if I don't my pillow is soaked! Anyone have any explanation for it? I thought that it might be because since I am balding, I shave my hair really short so more of the skin oils get on my pillow case (my wife has a head full of hair...she loses more hair in the shower each morning than I have altogether~somehow that's just not fair). Could that be the reason? |
Have you ever tried to give something to chew (like bull stick) while they are on your bed? They may occupy themselves with that and forget the pillows Maria |
I have always heard that excessive licking (or eating of odd things) by animals indicate something lacking in their diet. Don't know if that's a fact or not, but maybe add something to their diet. Be interesting to know if the pillow lickers have a common diet??? Like a certain brand of dog food, or home cooked meals, etc. Kendra |

Sophie licks my pillow and comforter. Mainly the pillow. I thought it might be because it's a feather pillow. Who knows. |
