Help please My little Trinity (5 years old & 4 lbs) in the last few days has been scratching and tearing my mats in the kitchen and putting the pieces in her water bowl. To add to this dilemma...she is also taking her food and sloshing into her water bowl as well (making it unfit for her to drink). The confusing thing is that she doesn't do it when I'm home...only when I'm away. I thought it was only when I work long hours but have since eliminated that because she did it yesterday while I was away at the gym. I really have no clue about what to do. Discipline....?:( I've had her since she was 8 weeks old and the only other time she has done anything like this was 3 years ago when she would rip apart her puppy pads. Any input from my YT community would be greatly appreciated. TIA. |
I'm not an expert, but it sounds like seperation anxiety to me... Can you crate her while you're away?? Maybe put het food and water dishes farther apart.... Sorry, I'm sure others will have better advice. Good luck :) |
I wouldn't discipline -- dogs are unlikely to understand discipline unless it is administered close together with the undesirable behavior. Try giving Trinity a water bottle instead of a water dish when you are away: http://cavex2productions.tripod.com/...ottlestand.htm |
