dirty looking skin Not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes. Has anyone ever noticed dirty looking skin on their babies upper legs and on the weewee? I noticed about a month ago that Pucci's skin on a couple of spots looked dirty and lately I noticed it was also on his upper inner rear legs going up to his tummy area. I started washing him more often besides bathing him thinking it maybe some sort of acne. Both GiGi and Pucci go to the same places although I take Pucci out more often lately. GiGi is perfectly clean looking...no specs and she actually sleeps on my floors at times. I just today noticed that this dirty look has now spread to Pucci's front legs in the crevice at the top of the leg. I am totally baffled. Other than that he is fine. I am making his annual vet checkup tomorrow for this Wednesday...wish I could get him there sooner but we are moving Wednesday morning so I will bring him in Wed afternoon. Anyone ever hear or experice this? Thanks Tina |
I don't know what causes it but i have seen it before. Someone else on here recently posted about a lotion that got rid of it. let me see if i can find the thread. |

Are the black spots grass allergy? Missy has it and her mom has been asking me about it. Kaji doesn't have it and the only other dog that I have seen spots (that look like dirt) is my old roomie's pom. I thought it was dirt specs, or flee poop. |

I had no idea that was a grass allergy!! Bandit has the same exact thing, and I kept thinking it was dirty so I would spend extra time washing that area even though I was already giving him a bath every week (except in the winter). I'll be trying that lotion soon:) |
bijou has that around her pubic area. my vet told me it was like doggie acne (blackheads), so to pay extra attention when i wash her in that area and it should go away. |
Hi all.. Thanks for posting...just wanted to update you so far. I was not able to get an appointment with the vet till Friday. Thinking thru the different things we are doing with the furs this year from last, I have come up with his rubber booties. I started him wearing them winter before last and last summer I noticed a little patch of this on his weewee...didn't notice on his legs. This year I have him wearing socks with his rubber booties every time I take him out and the patches of this stuff has spread. So I am guessing he is allergic to elastic or the rubber the booties are made of. I haven't used the socks and booties since yesterday and it looks like (not sure yet if this is my imagination) a little bit has cleared from under one of his front legs (the last to spread to). This might be it not sure will know better after the vet appointment. Will update you soon as I can. thanks again for your help. Tina |

My Lhasa had this... I took him to a doggie allergist. He was allergic to everything under the sun, but the diagnosis was a fungal infection caused by the allergies. He also lost hair. Thankfully, he was never really an outdoor dog~ he just went out to do his business, but we had to wash him after we brought him in and then use a spray when he was itchy. I learned that a good clue if your pup is allergic to grass is that they lick their paws (a lot)--they are trying to itch between the toes. |
why does he wear rubber booties? |
Friday only gets them when she is in heat or pregnant. none of my other yorks have it. I am also going to check back to see what your vet says. |
