Sophie Kate Being Aggressive Towards The Cat Help experienced Yorkie owners!!! Sophie Kate has had two cases of being aggressive towards our cat. This is very strange since she and the cat have always gotten along in fact when Sophie Kate is upset or scared she looks to the cat for comfort. In both cases it has happened when the cat has jumped on our bed during the night and in both cases Sophie Kate was awake (so it's unlikely the cat scared her). I need to stop this behavior immediately, my cat is a well loved member of our family and I will not allow Sophie Kate to intimidate him (which is what is appears she is doing). When this happened last night I grabbed Sophie Kate and put her on the floor and said "No". Please advice on how to handle this please. Thank you, Cheryl |
Sounds like she is getting territorial of the bed. I think you did the right thing by putting her on the floor and hopefully she'll associate her action with being "rejected" and put on the floor. |
What you did is absolutely the right thing. Anytime that happens, she loses her favorite spot, being with you on the bed. See if you can coax your cat on the bed so your kitty doesn't become afraid of going onto the bed. Lots of petting should be given to your cat on the bed so they still associate good things with the bed. We had the opposite problem, our kitty Pickles liked to swat at the pups. So she would lose her spot on the bed. |
