Constant barking while home alone We had a note through the door today from a neighbour (unsigned) moaning about Max and Cleo, saying that they were barking constantly for 7 hours yesterday and 4 hours today while we were out. We've not long moved into the area so don't know the neighbours so can't judge weather or not they're exaggerating (however, we weren't out for 4 hours today so they're not accurate with their timings). Anyway, obviously this is a problem (if they are constantly barking) and we were just wondering if there's anything we can try to stop them barking while we're not there. |
Do you leave their water, pee wee pad out? I also have the music on while i'm out with the hope of it blocking outside noises that might startle Duke. He also has his bed and toys to play. I'm not sure what is causing yours to bark for so long, have you left them alone before? Is this new behaviors? Hopefully someone on here can help you. |
Is there a location away from the door where you can keep them? I keep mine in my bedroom because I know they will bark if they hear things at the door... my bedroom is the room furthest back in the apartment so they cant really hear much of anything from there. Also give them plenty of things to entertain themselves, filled kongs, toys. Leave the tv or music on to help drown outside sounds. Good Luck! |
This is why I am so glad I don't have neighbors. I am sure mine bark a lot when we aren't home. They love to bark at anything outside. I had a Cairn Terrier that could bark for hours, the vet decided he was obsssesive/compulsive. He was outside and would find a lizard and bark at it for hours after it was gone, he didn't know how to stop unless I removed in from the place he was barking. But this is what cairn terriers were trained to do in England. |
