I need some tips please.... We are going camping for 7 day in a 5th wheel With Izzy ( she'll be 9 months).. I'm getting a stroller because I know she will not be able to walk during the whole trip..like during our long day trip in Mackinaw This is my first time taking her on vacation and I would like things to go smoothly..If you have any tips for me I would LOVE to here them.. Thank so much :) |
We take ours camping with us all the time in our 5th wheel and they love it! We have an ex pen that we put Rusty in when we are sitting outside under the awning...never leaving him alone in it because he will climb out if he gets the chance ;). The 5th wheel to them is home because they have spent alot of time in it. They have the same beds, toys, bowls etc that they do at home so it is really no different to being at home. The only thing we make sure to do if we go somewhere they cant go with us we leave the blinds in our bedroom open so they can get on the bed to see outside. They hate not being able to see outside! Good Luck |

No that usually means do not leave them unattended outside! I have never had a campground tell us we can't leave them in the 5th wheel. |
hot in camper? I'm afraid to leave mine alone in the camper. Do you think it will get too hot in there, after all it is more or less a "tin box" . Also, what if he starts barking & bothers the other campers? DH is annoyed that I won't leave him in the camper so we can go out to supper sometimes, but I'm too scared to do it. Any suggestions anyone? |
Don't the 5th wheels have generators so you can keep the ac running? I just watched Open season part 2, too cute! |
We take ours in our RV all of the time and they love it. When we leave ours in the RV, I leave the TV on just to make people think someone is in there. If you don't have an ex-pen you can always tie their leash to a picnic table or your 5th wheel, just don't leave them out there alone. We bought tie downs at Walmart for $8 each with a latch on each end and are 15 feet long. It's always handy to have extra towels to wipe them off and I take my shampoo, brushes and all of that just in case. I also keep Karo syrup in the RV just in case someone gets low blood sugar. Never have had to use it though! Have fun on your trip, I'm sure all will go well. We meet lots of interesting people while we're out walking the dogs. They're always a good conversation starter. |
Good idea about the stoller because the asphalt gets just too hot for tender little feet and they could get blisters. Take Izzy's shot record too. You could even make a copy just to keep in the RV all the time so you don't forget to bring it along. Maybe take her towel and some of her shampoo just in case she gets into anything. Sometimes traveling and all the new adventures can cause a bit of loose stools that could be a bit messy. Have fun on your vacation Take lots of pictures to share with us. :D |

Does your RV not have air? We keep ours nice and cool for us and the babies! I also leave the TV on inside. Lots of people leave their pets inside their camper and sometimes they do bark but as long as it is not past quiet time most people don't mind. I have never minded when I walk past an RV and the dog inside is barking at us! When the AC is running you usually can't hear them anyway because it drowns out their barking. We don't pick campgrounds with sites right on top of each other though...we like lots of room so this has never been an issue. I agree with the other poster to about taking vet records. We keep a copy in the 5th wheel for emergencies and *some* parks will ask for proof of rabies vaccine! |
We've used our 5th wheel for years and I've always seen dogs in the campground...as long as they don't run free or bark after quiet time. Mostly 10 pm I think. We take our parrots on our trips and we go out shopping during the day, lunch and dinner out, and maybe a drive to the beach. Never had a problem. We leave the tv on a 'safe' channel....animal channel or QVC since you never know when they might pick up a bad word. This last trip we had Zoe i her crate..left open..and placed in ex-pen. No problem. She loved camping by the way. SOOO many fun things to see and sniff outside. I think yours is going to love it too. Just make sure you're connected to A/C or generator as they do get very hot inside. BTW, we keep ours on all the time because we love it 'almost' cold. LOL |
Thank eveyone for all the tips....The 5th wheel does have a/c so it will be nice and cool for her "IF" we do have to leave her in it..But I plan on taking her everywhere :D We leave on the 23rd and will be gone for 9 days...I'm sure we'll have tons of fun. |
Have fun.... |
Hope you have a great time! |
