Has anyone used this grooming arm?
 
I'm thinking about ordering this grooming arm. Has anyone used it, or one like it? I'm curious if it works well. Also, I can't decide which size to order - the 36" or the 48"? My smallest is 4 pounds but my largest is 13 pounds...I really think the smaller arm would work for all of mine but it's hard to say without seeing it in person. I intend to use it on my countertop or dining table, but it says it's for use with grooming tables. Opinions please? :)

I just found another one. It's more expensive but has extra features, adjustable height and the clamp will open wide enough to fit it on my countertop. What do you think? Is it worth the price difference?

This is very similar if not the one we ordered from Petedge. We ordered it at the same time as the table.
I've never used it on a countertop or regular table.
We don't groom ourselves, that was the plan when we ordered it, but we use it for blowing dry, brushing, etc..
It works great for all three! Two are 6+lbs & Crosley is 17lbs.

I've found that my kitchen countertop is the perfect height for me to have them on while grooming. It's so handy to bathe them in the sink and then just move them over a few inches onto the counter to dry/brush/etc. And I have one whole drawer right under that counter that I keep packed full of their brushes, combs, scissors, bows, grooming bands, etc. so everything I need is right there. :) And I just don't have room anywhere for an actual grooming table.

I'm hoping the grooming arm & band will help keep them from wiggling and turning around on me while I'm working on them. I've never used one before....I don't know how much help they'll be for what I want. Plus, it's just extra precaution to keep them from accidentally stepping off the edge of the counter.

If you read the description of the first one, it does say that the height is adjustable. It looks like it the entire arm moves up and down within the clamp.

I think the second one looks sturdier but that's just my opinion. :p

I really need to get one too but I do want to get a table.... the only problem I'm having is where to put the table! LOL! I used to use the kitchen counter and I liked it but mine are too big to wash in the sink. I use the tub and then take them to my bathroom to groom. I like having the sink right next to the area but it starts to hurt my back if I have to stand and lean in to groom them (they like to do the "dead weight" thing with me - as though I'll stop if they just lean far enough away from me). I want to put the set up in a bedroom I have but I know I'll miss the sink. :rolleyes: Decisions! :D

I know exactly what you mean! Ooohhh, when I think of all the times I got an aching back when grooming....

I've been trying for months to decide whether to get a table, or just the arm, or even anything at all. I finally realized I already had the perfect comfortable setup (for me), I just need a way to keep them from moving around so much. ;) I was watching my groomer last week and another groomer at Petsmart on Tuesday, and the dogs did so well on those small little tables the groomers were using. It seemed like they couldn't move too much with those bands looped on them. Like I said, I've never used a grooming table or a grooming arm/band so I hope this does the trick for us. :)

I leave my ironing board set up in the spare bedroom (which I turned into a sewing room) It is a good height so I don't get a sore back. I bath in the tub so I can use the hand held shower to spray him, then wrap him in a towel & carry him across the hall to the sewing room. I have the opposite "leaning problem" though, he leans right up against me & lays his head against my body, I have to keep moving him back to brush him. LOL

My ironing board was my mothers, and she had it before I was born so it's probably 45 years old at least. I don't know what "modern" ironing boards are like. :p My first thought was that the ironing board top might be too thin/narrow for the clamp to attach to securely, but then I realized you could just put a piece of plywood or something in there if you need to. And would the weight of the arm cause the ironing board to lean or tilt, or could you brace it up somehow?

I have one that leans in to me, too. I don't mind that as much because at least I'm not stretching to get to them. Plus, I love feeling him all snuggled up to me. :)

I have the first one you posted and was concerned about it being sturdy enough but have no problems at all with it. I have the smaller one and use it for both my yorkie who is 10 lbs. and my aussie who is 25 lbs. it works well for both of them. It is adjustable and the loop that comes with it works well enough for home grooming. I don't think you can beat it for the price.

Also, it will adjust to a table or counter up to 2 inches thick. I use mine on my portable sewing table which about the same size as a grooming table.

Oh good! This is the info I was hoping to get. Thank you! :)

I went ahead and ordered last night (before seeing your post) & I decided to get the other one. I thought with the bigger clamp, I could also use it on my pub table if I ever wanted to (the top on it's about 2 3/4" thick).

I also ordered this on impulse. :p It's a lazy susan that's supposed to sit on top of a grooming table, but it's the perfect size for my countertop, too. Has anyone ever used one of these? I started thinking after I ordered - with a pup in the grooming arm, will I be able to turn them to get to the other side (which was my purpose in getting it)?
