Does your dog go with you EVERYWHERE? food shopping, malls, big stores, little stores? Anyone ever ask you to leave? We enjoy brings Seeker everywhere with us, and he has a bag where he is fully closed, and i refuse to leave him in the car.....but we were asked to leave target even ith him concieled.....:( |
I usually take mine everywhere! Targets in FL did ask me to leave. Mine all have strollers. I think its crazy they are not hurting anything closed up and not making a sound. I dont have trouble much in GA. I do it in TN, TX, NV and a few other states we travel to. But shopping malls I usually dont have problems with so far Targets has been the only store. |
Nope, my Jackson is 16lbs of fun, so I wouldn't wanna be carrying him around with me. :p So no malls or anything. He goes wherever he can be walked on leash w/ me though, and he goes to almost all my family members homes, pet stores, any outdoor-type stores, and he always comes for car rides for trips to the bank and fast food, etc. |
Well, i have 5 so if they go with me, they stay in the car with the a/c running and the doors locked. I only do that when i am in and out in a few seconds and i can keep an eye on the car. We do go to the doggie zoo (petsmart and petco). They love going there so they can all pile into a basket and they get to see the birds, mice, gerbils, fish up close. They are facinated with the little critters there. I think our Home Depot allows them too but i have never taken them there. I took Princess in a bag once to meet a friend at her hotel. We ate outside at the restaurant and was allowed to let her out of her bag there. We aren't allowed in malls or any place that serves food indoors. I wish it was more like Europe where they allow dogs everywhere. :D In the house, i always have a parade as all 5 must be with me wherever I go. I even have potty partners. :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Yes everywhere! Except for the Sat morning grocery ritual my dad and I have. I took him with us a few times but it's too much carrier time in my opinion. If it's a quick in and out and he's already with me (which he probably is) then he'll go in his carrier and no one knows he's there. |

i pretty much take bijou with me everywhere ... she's very quiet, so if i close her bag, no one ever knows she's there b/c it just looks like a purse.... it is illegal to have dogs (other than service dogs) in a store that sells food (grocery stores, target, walmart), so that's usually why they'll ask you to leave if they know about the dog.... |

When I had only Maddie, I used to take her everywhere with me in her carrier. She was normally very good, but once when we were in line at Target, she barked. Everyone was looking around asking where the dog was. Once in Walmart, she barked when we saw someone we knew....a clerk came up and told me to keep her concealed or she'd have to ask me to leave. I did have her concealed and all was fine. Once I got Libby, it was hard to take them both with me while shopping so I normally left them at home. Then Faith came along and they stayed home together. Recently, I decided I'd start taking turns...taking one and leaving 2 at home. The other day, I took Faith and walked into Menards just holding her in my arms. It was the garden center, so not even the main part of the store, but once inside, the cashier informed me that I could not come in with the dog. I was surprised because I'd had Maddie and Libby in there many times in the main part of the store and never once been asked to leave. I don't know if they've changed their policy or if it was just the cashier. Next time I take on there, I'll have them in the carrier. |
Couver has been literally everywhere with me- grocery stores, malls, movies, hotels, restaurants... He is always very quiet and lays down in his carrier. He is even fine if I close the window on it for a short while. |
I take Levi almost everywhere (in his carrier bag). I don't take him if I will be gone for a long period of time to a mall or grocery store, but if I have just have a few stops to make, he doesn't mind the carrier. He never really barks in the carrier - he is more of a squirmer :) I even took him to the hospital to visit my grandmother a few days ago. I expected the nurses to get upset or at least request for him to go back in his carrier when they saw him...but they loved him! One nurse even brought out her cell phone to show me pictures of her toy poodle in a bikini at the beach. |
my sister-in-law was in the hospital a few years back she had cancer and they knew she was not going to make and they let her big old black lab come to her room a few hours after that she left us for that better place she was always talking about gone but so not forgotten love you KK |

I understand the concern with germs in a hospital, but I think they need to try and put more procedures in place for pets to visit their owners because I think it is very good for the spirit, to see your pet  As to the original topic: I try to take mine with me as much as possible but I won't leave them in the car, unless I can see it from where I am, and I won't sneak them in where they are not allowed, so they don't go everywhere with me. They get to go out plenty though. And they are fine when they are home, they are never crated and stay together, so they are always fine and happy when I get back. |
yep every wear i take him to stores i do try respect the law and i don't take him in grocery stores if i can help it. i do take him in walmart and target but i always always stay away from the food section however i am a person of habit i go to the same places at the same times on the same days so they all know me the managers know me and i can even take Gatsby into my walmart on a leach (i had to once i could not hold the bag i was recovering from surgery) the people let him go because i live in a small town with a high population we get alot of look the other ways when it comes to regular customers the only thing i do not do is take him to movies i think the noise would upset him |
We can't always take the girls with us, but we do take them everywhere possible, even the drive-in movies! :D |
Ok, I've been dying to go to a drive in movie. Do you know where or how I could find one? |

Here's a good place to start - I know there are a couple in my state that have been shut down, so you might have to call around :) |

companion dogs I have 6 all together so I take them only if I am not getting out of the car,or going to the dog park ect. I have a friend that has a small dog that she has a Badge for her Spike Min pin, and he is registered as a service dog, He is a companion dog, she takes him EVERY place. It cost around $30.00 per dog. Then they send you everything you need to take your baby with you. It is legal and no one can ask questions. Just like regular service dogs. Just that your dog makes you more comfortable and you need the animal with you. I know a few people that have done this with ther dogs and have no problems at all. The one friend takes her little guy right on the plane he walks on himself with a leash. If I had only one dog I would probably do it but I would have alot of explaining with 6. Just google registering your companion dog. I think it is 24.99 per dog . Brenda |
Holly goes EVERYWHERE with me except in grocery stores or restaurants. She's only 3.6 lbs so she goes in her doggy bag nicely and sticks her head out. Target is the only store who has asked us to leave. It was a manager who asked, but normally every Target employee always stops to pet her and we've never had a problem before, so now we keep an eye out for that specific manager. |
Not everywhere. No resturaunts, grocery stores, target or Wally world. I got brave yesterday and took him to the mall to go to the Apple store. I fully expected to get told to leave, but most people just smiled induldgently. I did check at the enterance though to see if there were any "no dog" signs- there weren't, so I figured I could always plead ignorance if they told me otherwise. |
I take Mr. Darcy and Lizzie if the weather permits.....if I think it would be too warm to leave them in the car, then they stay home, unless it is an 'in and out' trip. It's weird though, I posted last year that Mr. Darcy throws up in the car - he has pretty well stopped that except the odd time, but the other day, we drove 35 miles, I was in and out 2 places - no throwups - then I got back in the car, turned around and he threw up?????? Lizzie doesn't do this...... |
Every Where Except WALMART & TARGET! Aloha, I currently have 4 Yorkies, Artie is now 6 yrs. old and 10.5 lbs. he is the one that loves to go Shopping anywhere and anytime, he never barks and he stays in a Shopping cart if I'm not carrying him in my arms or in a bag. Abigail is 5 yrs. old and 7 lbs., Pom-Pom their daughter is almost 4 and 5 lbs. and the youngest one at 4 months, with NO Name since I have'nt decided if I'm going to keep him? He's barely 3 lbs. They are all Trained not to Bark and lay down quietly in the Shopping Cart if I decide to take all of them it's usually to Petsmart. I will usually take Artie since he enjoys it the most or the new Puppy since I'm starting to Train him. Every where except WALMART & TARGET since they have Food/Groceries....I would never even try taking them in there and I personally think it's gross/nasty for any Dogs whether they are mine or someone elses Dogs to be near any kind of FOOD! I also think it's Rude, unless it is a "Service Animal" for anyone to SNEAK them in.......I am a Yorkie Lover but that's one of my Pet Peeves! Along with Parking in the "Fire Zone", park in stall just like everyone else? I have seen so many Yorkies at WALMART! I have and will leave my CAR running w/the AC. but me or my Girlfriend (who has 2 Yorkies plus my 4 Yorkies, 6 Total) will stay in the Car, so they won't get stolen! I take them every where, I don't have to insist on taking them there, where they are not allowed to begin with? Besides not everyone is a Dog Lover or Yorkie Lover and I have to respect that? |
Yes Target does no under any circumstance allow dogs, I was asked to leave right away even though Bella was in a carrier!!! |
