While on a beach walk The other night we take our two traveling dogs with us for a walk on the beach right after dinner. As always I expected a lot of "awws" and so forth. We got a few good ones from some kids... Mommy I want that dog will you buy it....another little boy gave this answer when someone asked what kind of dog we had "thats not a dog its a human" Of course we got the "Is it a t-cup." But I simply answered its just a puppy. Then were nearing the end of our walk when a young woman wants to pet Moto. And her friend asked is that a Yorkie I answered yes. She said yours is so cute, I have a yorkie and its ugly. How could anyone say that about any yorkie??? Anyways Moto did ok with his walk he wanted to stick close to everyone when it got crowded and tripped up my husband quite a few times. Sugar my JRT was a hit all the way around. She loves people. And made quiet a few friends. She sat with my MIL while I hit up a shop and she made friends with an entire family. The 18 month old tried to come home with us she liked the dog so much. David carried Moto around the store with him since hes still a little worried about new people and crowds. I should of gotten a photo of that :) They both loved the sand but not the water. I just wish we had extra long leashes to let them run around a bit more while were out there. OH well. We may check out the local pet stores today. |
Awww, it sounds like you all had a great time! :) |
I wish I lived closer to the beach!! You have a JRT? I have a JRT/poodle jack-a-poo!! She loves people too!!! everyone always comments on how sweet she is. Pixie my yorkie loves steal the show!!;) I don't think I have ever seen an ugly yorkie. Their personality makes them adorable no matter what!!! |
sounds like a good time was had by all. :) |
It's amazing how these little ones can bring people together in a positive way. Because of my Yorkies, I've made four wonderful friends. :D |
I'm lucky where I live, as we have the Mersey prom which leads round to the sea prom and that's where we walk every day. I have my little boy who talks to everyone along there, and now the pup and it takes ages to finish our walk each day as they both get fusses from everyone we meet. They all know the lad's and the pup's names and I feel pretty left out, lol. The other week we had a mini break over in Yorkshire and we found some lovely proms to walk along. Even there it took ages to get anywhere as everyone wanted to talk. In the end I kept having to shove the pooch in the carrier or we'd have been there all day. Yorkies certainly draw a lot of attention wherever they go - probably because they're so full of character. |
How rude !! To speak of your own furbaby that way. I have never seen an ugly Yorkie. I truly believe no such thing exists. |
Glad to hear you had a good time. We went to the beach last weekend too...South Padre Island. Cerise had a WONDERFUL time :) Oh and the woman who said her Yorkie was ugly probably doesn't own a real Yorkie. Yorkies are beautiful! |
Sounds like fun! I wish we had a beach closer. My aunt has one in her neighborhood like 45 minutes away, so we visit sometimes and Jackson just loves it. :) I bought a long 50 foot leash so he's basically 'free' but still connected. (eBay- like $15). I also have a 16 foot retractable leash for beaches & fields, etc. It's sooo worth it to give them more room! |
Reminds me of parents who put their kids down in front of other parents . . . never understood it. |
Took a long walk around the campground today and met some new people. Met a family with a yorkie-poo. I don't really know much about that mix but the lady said she was expecting a 5 lb. dog and the dog was well over currently 20 lb. at 9 months. And while it did seam to have a yorkies face frame the color was all golden. Not tan not silver but golden. And very wavy. Of course when she saw our little guy she was like thats what I expected ours to look like. But they assured us they loved her no matter what. And the father seamed to be totally in love with the dog calling his little darlin' the light of his life. He has 4 daughters and a wife but states the dog is his loyal sidekick when things get out of hand. We also met a Newfoundland that had a cut like a snauzer I think I'm spelling that wrong. That was a fun site to see trust me. We also met a mixed breed that can hold 3 tennis balls in his mouth at one time. I think he has a fetish for tennis balls... The owners said they have over 50 balls around there house and can never go anywhere with out a can of tennis balls. lol. Also met a motorcycle riding dog named spike. Im not really sure what kind of dog he was, If I had to guess I would say some kind of pug mix but larger. Oh and last but not lease a trio of weenier dogs. All yappers. Not sure what their owner had to say due to a lot of barking but she smiled a lot and i nodded a lot. She may very well think Im the town idiot :) We have really enjoyed our trip this week. Had some great weather and found lots of great stuff to do. Even got a chance to watch a life guard save a life. He was cute too , much too young but still cute. |
