Pet Friendly Stores Does anyone know of the major stores that are ALWAYS pet friendly? Rusty likes going with us everywhere and so far we have found most local places to be accomodating but I did not want to take him somewhere he was not welcome and have to leave him in the car or go home! |
I have found the following stores to be pet friendly: Bed Bath and Beyond Home Depot Lowes I can't promise that these are universally pet friendly, but I usually go by if they don't have food... they usually dont mind if you are carrying your dog :D Good luck! |
Definitely Home Depot and Lowes...i have taken Pasquale there:) |
1 Attachment(s) He definitely prefers to be carried around the stores...he is spoiled;) He likes for people to talk to him and tell him how cute he is LOL! I had heard stores that dont sell food are usually Ok with dogs but I was to afraid to just try it so I was trying to get some ideas from other people who have carried their dogs places! Thanks :) |

It's funny when I was living in Atlanta I remember some of the Home Depots having signs on the doors that said no pets. I once ran into the Garden Center for something with one of my girls and didn't see the sign about no pets until I had left, but no one said anything while I was in there. I have found every department store I have taken my girls too they have been welcome...Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Neimans, Macys, etc. :) The Juicy and Coach store alway seems to make a big deal over my girls, as does JCrew and Anthropologie. |
Sorry - double post. |

I remember trying to go into JoAnn's when it was freezing outside... single digits. I asked when I walked in if it was OK for me to bring in my puppy with me. I had him in his carrier. I did not see signs anywhere so I was not sure. I was told a very abrupt.... NO! I was going there to buy fleece and a pattern to make my puppy a warm coat for going outside to go potty. Had to take my puppy home and go back to JoAnn's later. I have been afraid to try other places. I have found one of our local shopping malls allows dogs to be brought into some of the stores, as long as they are on a leash and well behaved. There is a really nice store that sells dog toys, clothing, etc. that we have taken both of our puppies to when we want to buy new things for them. I LOVE this store.... Moochie & Co. |
I have taken mine in all sorts of places... TJ Maxx, Homegoods, clothing stores. Here (NYC) dogs are allowed pretty much anywhere as long as there is no food, I usually pick mine up when I walk in and I have had more then one employee stop me and tell me "they are fine to just walk around". As long as there is no food, I usually will just go in and if I get thrown out, I'm okay with that :p I have been thrown out of a few places upstate when I visit my parents and really most people are pretty nice about it, they just come up and politely say that dogs are not allowed and I leave... its not a big deal! |

I think it really depends on the individual store. I know lots of people take dogs to Lowes and Home Depot, but the Lowes here will NOT allow dogs, no matter the size, even in the garden department and will quickly ask you to leave. So even those are not universal across the board. I would suggest that you just call and ask in advance. :) Even then, it may just depend on who you talk to, but it's the safest way to check I would think. |

I used to take my two into Target, but now they have a food section and I can't. I have taken one into Sephora...they love them, but it's hard to try things out while I'm holding a puppy. If you sneak into Wallmart and stay away from the food section you'll be okay...I've done that and the employees just ooh and aww over my two. |
