Totally unacceptable behavior. I have no idea what's going on with my dog, but for the last two days he's out of control as far as housebreaking. Last night, every time I took him outside before bed and set him on the ground to potty, he'd run back on the patio. Every time. This morning when he came out of his crate he went out and did his business (both) ON the patio! He's NEVER done that. I take him to work with me. Today when there was a customer in, he pooped in the floor, right in front of her. Total embarrassment. I had just taken him outside not 15 minutes before too. This is behavior that's not to be tolerated and I don't understand what's happened. |
How Do You Stop Them From Jumping Up On People? oops, technically difficulties here. |
My Cooper is actually pretty good when guests or customers come around, except today. He's a really good little boy, I just can't get this potty thing down. We take one step forward and two back it seems. |

How old is your Cooper? |
Oh...sorry. He is 6 months old. |
Has he been neutered? I'm wondering if he is actually marking? |
He has been neutered at 5 months. He will be 7 months on the 19th. He also had fho surgery just 2 weeks ago. |
Please be patient with him. He may not be feeling well, and may just be having difficulty getting back into his routine. That's a pretty major surgery to be recovering from... he may be having pain or his signals may be getting him confused. Many times with Yorkies, when changes happen in their lives, it seems that potty training needs to start over from square one. I would just maybe increase the frequency, and walk him on leash until he goes, then praise him. Sometimes, the stay in the hospital can reek havoc on their potty habits. It may take gentle reminders from you to get him back on track. He is still very young, many do not acheive total pottying control till they've reached a year old or more. |

My first thought is that if he has been doing well on potty training and is suddenly doing this, then he is most likely not feeling well. I would get him checked out. And don't be too embarrassed about him making a mess in front of your client. Stuff happens. |
I would take him to he vet to get checked out. Could there be a possible infection that is making him ill if surgery was not that long ago? |
