YES HE GOES OUT FOR WALKS IN THE MORNING AND EVENING, ALSO WE LET HIM RUN AROUND IN THE BACK YARD. WE ALSO KEEP A WEE WEE PAD IN HIS ROOM, THAT HE ALSO USES. PLEASE HELP!! |
You might want to go back to crate training. That doesn't mean you will keep him there all day. Also, neutering will really help. |

ALSO THESE PAST FEW WEEKS, WE'VE HAD SMALL CHILDREN IN THE HOME AND I BELIEVE HE WAS JEALOUS! LOL! SO I WAS THINKING PERHAPS HE GOT MAD AND STARTED THIS MESS, :shrugs: IT'S ALWAYS IN THE SAMES SPOTS, WHEN HE DOES IT, I EVEN CLEAN THE AREA WELL. :shrugs: |
How old is he? If he's reaching sexual maturity, this is a behavior you should come to expect from a stud dog. Just one of those things that comes with breeding a dog..... it will get alot worse when he smells a female in heat. I just wanted to add that if you really only plan to breed him one time, you might want to rethink it as breeding a dog even just one time can change things drastically. Once all those undesirable habits are ingrained, it will be much more difficult to break.... Sorry..... |

How big are the spots? He is probably marking? If he can't seem to hold it, then he should be checked for a UTI. Neutering may help; otherwise belly bands are worth a try. |

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: i agree with both posters. He is probably marking and probably has been marking other areas but you just haven't noticed. get a black light and check the areas he's mainly in. Breeding "just one time" can still have dramatic effects on him even if you neuter him shortly afterward. most people with intact males use belly bands to prevent them from peeing on things in the house. They will still mark but the pee will be going into the band instead of on your furniture. Also if he's peeing frequently and in inappropriate spots it could be a urinary tract infection. Is he drinking more water then usual? |
He is marking his territory which is very normal for a 2.5 year old unneutered male dog who has reached sexual maturity. Using him as a stud will only make this behavior much, much worse. It certainly is not worth putting up with for the rest of his life for one litter, is it? I'd get him neutered and then work very hard to retrain him. |
Your dog is marking and please know if you breed him, he will do this more! You should have him fixed asap, this may help curb the behavior hopefully, but not always. |
THANKS EVERYONE, I TRULY APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK!! |
There really is no reason to mate him unless he's an excellent example of the breed. Neutering helps eliminate some forms of cancers and also eliminates the need to mark, which is governed by the hormone testosterone. The number one cause of death in male dogs is accidents related to car injuries, unneutered male dogs are much more likely to run away and can smell a bitch in heat for up to 10 miles. Most vets like to do this around 7 months and you should have the remaining baby teeth pulled at the same time. Yorkies don't lose all the baby teeth on their own, and it's good to have this done during neutering since they have to be under anesthesia to have their teeth pulled. |
You just might have a female dog somewhere in your neighborhood, or the next, who is in heat and your boy is feeling very male and letting you know it. It does sound like marking and if it is and you just have to breed him, then I suggest you get a few belly bands, weanie wrappers, or whatever you want to call them. I frankly never bother trying to work with a male intact dog I get to foster until after he has been neutered. Until then, I keep a belly band on the dog. However, if this a sudden thing and he has always been good, then there could be a medical reason. |
Just one more thing... when you clean the spots he's marked on - make sure you use something that's specific for dog urine - such as Nature's Miracle. Follow the instructions - it does work. |
I would get him fixed asap. You do not want him running away to mate with any female he smells .... |
