New To The Group ~ Hello everyone :). Im Kathy from Michigan. We are waiting for our fur baby Isabella to come home sometime the first half of July. She will be 9 or 10 weeks. The breeder has been so gracious and we have been able to visit and she sends pictures. Isabella will be my second yorkie. "Misty" was my first. She passed away almost 8 years ago. I am so looking forward to having Isabella join our family. In the mean time I have spent abit of time here on this site. So much I have forgotten over the last 8 years. I have to say Ive learned ALOT just reading the advice given. I look forward to being a part of this forum. Kathy ~ |
Hi Kathy and welcome to YT. I would ask your Breeder to keep Isabella until she is 12 weeks old. Thats the recomended age. A Yorkie needs momma dog until then. She will teach her manners. From four to twelve weeks, puppy remains influenced by littermates and is also influenced by people. Puppy learns to play, develops social skills, learns the inhibited bite, explores social structure/ranking, and improves physical coordination. Good Luck Kathy and please post some pics of that cute little Isabella. |
Welcome! How exciting, a new puppy. Post pics as soon as you get her :) |
Hi Kathy. My favorite cousin lives in Michigan. I've only been there twice, once for her wedding and once for her brother's, but it was beautiful there. Congratulations on the coming of Isabella. I have a 5 month old named Charlie. He's a peach. I didn't even want a dog, and now I'm head over heels in love and thinking about getting him a brother or sister or friend. Yorkies seem to catch a spell on you. I'm fairly new to the forum (and to having a puppy.) The information here as been invaluable to me. I knew very little. Everyone has been so helpful. Can't wait to see a picture of your Isabella. How big do you think she'll get? Charlie is going to be a big boy ... I was looking for a smaller one because I have severe arthritis in my hands. I lucked out with Charlie because (didn't know it at the time) got him from someone who was probably breeding for the money at best. (But he has turned out to be perfect for us no matter how big he gets.) Vet thinks he'll be about 15 pounds. I don't have a picture because 1) not sure how to do it. I was going to have my kids do it but 2) camera broke yesterday (in the middle of my daughter's graduation. Any, welcome. I'm sure you'll love the forum as much as I do and I'm sure you'll have lots to give as well. |
Welcome! Congrats on the new addition! Cant wait to see some pics. :) |
