Hurricane Supplies I'm getting my hurricane supplies ready for this upcoming year, which is supposed to be BIG. I'm purchasing a canvas kennel so I don't have to pack a plastic one; I learned that from the 2004 hurricanes when we left the state for the first one and stayed for the second hurricane. Let me know what else you think you would add, so I don't miss anything. 1. Kennels 2. Dog food 3. Treats 4. Feeding/water dishes 5. Leashes 6. Name tags with cell phone number instead of house phone 7. Toys 8. Cleaning supplies for them and accidents 9. Plenty of poop bags 10. Any medications (to include nutrical, pepto, benadryl) 11. Puppy pads (even though we don't use them) 12. Puppy pen (I have a 4-panel Iris, which is pretty light-weight) 13. Maybe some bottled water so they don't get an upset tummy from new water. We always have this handy for hurricanes. |
Hurricane supplies 14. Dog/puppy vet records (very important). We had to show them at Ft Benning for our pek for her to stay in temporary housing with us. |
Gulf Coast gal here too. We always evacuate to Austin, TX. I'm planning to get a list of vets/emergency vet clinics that are close to where we stay. Our immunization records are available online through our vet's website, but I'm planning on taking a paper copy as well. If my boy is sick or injured, I don't want to spend any prescious time looking for someone who can help us. Better safe than sorry. |
Louisiana here Make sure you have their rabies tags....forgot mine last time. |
Hurricane Supply List Thanks. I could only find a couple of things that we missed on the web. Have plenty of newspaper because they may not be able to go outside potty for a long while. Have a current photograph, just in case your baby escapes. So here is my list that I'm keeping with all my hurricane supplies so I don't forget anything for my babies. Hurricane Supplies for Dogs 1.
