Does anyone else feel this way? Okay, so I got my first dog ever when I was 21 and I was lucky enough to do my research go with my heart and pick a Yorkie (Bambino). Four years later I wanted a new addition into my life and I found this wonderful Yorkie/Min Pin mix (Lulu) who was 10 wks old and was being given away because a college student had bought her and decided she was too much responsibility (surprise ,surprise) even though poor Lulu came with hookworms and a lot of social issues...now at almost five months old she is just ADORABLE! I can't help however, every time I look at the Miami Animal services sight and see a Yorkie that has been surrendered by it's owner or one that has been found to wish I could adopt them! If I made more money I would definitely adopt more but I the moment I only have enough to be responsible for two babies. Does anyone else feel this way? Anytime you all see a Yorkie in the pound it just makes you want to add them to your family? Maybe it's because I have a special place in my hearts for Yorkie's thanks to Bambino and Lulu but I always think, why would anyone want to surrender their Yorkie? They're the best BABIES in the WORLD!! :( Thanks! <3, Nathalie, Bamibno and Lulu |
I feel the same way! I can't imagine surrendering one of my babies to the shelter, I wish I could adopt more, also.....but, am at my limit! |
I definitely have the same feelings you do. There are so many I would want to adopt. My friend told me, and showed me a pic of this yorkie in the pound. He looks like Kaji's double, and recently had a leg amputated because he was beaten and abused. I wish I had the money to break him out of that jail and have him curled up next to me just like Kaji is right now. I'm currently unemployed. Yesterday, I visited the shelter I use to volunteer for when I had the money to drive around. The Spca Officer and staff said they missed me and enjoyed Kaji's short visit. The officer commented on how obviously spoiled Kaji is and just said, "that's how it should always be." Wish I could give another furbutt the same life Kaji has. I did drop off a crate, toys, and towels that I had but didn't need. |
If I had the money and time I would have my own shelter. It just breaks my heart to see someone surrender a family member. |
I have 3 yorkies so my hands are full! But every time somebody posts a rescue site on here, and it doesn't have to be a yorkie, I always want to "save" the ones that have had really hard lives and give them love and a happy home. I cannot do it, but I always pray they will get the wonderful homes they deserve. |
If only every one felt about their pets the way we feel about ours there would be no need for shelters. Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing? |
We have big hearts here too...5 furbabies in our home. Would take them all if i could. |
I feel the same way. I am at my limit with my 4 but every time we get a small dog at the shelter I volunteer for it breaks my heart and I want to bring them home. I just pray they get adopted quickly. The first thing I do each week when I go to the shelter, is go to the board and see who went home that week. They list the dogs on one side and the cats on the other. Every dog/cat should have the life ours have. |
I agree! if everyone felt the same way we do about our furbabies those shelters would be virtually empty! Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts and feelings with me. :( I can't wait to be able to adopt more furbabies! <3 |
Count me in! I have 4, waiting on the 5th! :D |
Don't forget, that your local rescues need foster homes too! This way the pups get sprung outta jail and is on his or her way of getting a spoiled life like they deserve! And you get to help them, one by one! If you are in a steady situation, contact your local (reputable!) rescue organization and apply to become a foster mom (or dad). A lot of rescues are overloaded now bc of the economy and they need help! Even if you can't foster, you can volunteer for transport. Every little thing you can do will help. So far I have helped one surrendered yorkie find her furever home, and I tell you it is the best feeling ever! :) Now my home is open for one more foster in the future who needs help! |
If I had more money, I'd be over-run with Yorkies:laugh: |
If time and money were not an issue I would have a house full. You are definately not alone. |
My husband and I plan on retiring and buying a piece of property big enough so that I can have a rescue. I have to keep off of the petfinder site because I WOULD bring home every one of them if I could. |
I agree with all the above posts. I wish it was not so expensive to care for animals now a days, but it is. If not for that, I would have more than I do. 2dogs, 3cats, a bird and a goat!! |
