Yorkies ears My little Chloe is 2 years old and her little ears don't stick up everybody says it is to late to do that. Does any body have any ideas? |

Does it bother you that they don't stick up? I hope I'm not coming off the wrong way, but Fiona is 2 as well, and her ears are still floppy, and I love them that way. She will put them straight up when she wants to though. I dont think you can really do anything at this point....... |
Ears Does this mean that if you don't 'tip' them when they are babies, they won't stand up? I didn't know that. Very good question. When my first baby was about 5-6 months, her right ear started to flop and I had them tipped and it stood up immediately. Is it too late once that get older? |
my breeder told me to put scotch tape around them and the cartiledge will harden and then they will stick up |
I gave up trying to tape Rhett's ears. He manages to get out of it faster than I can tape them up. |
I have two sisters, 1yr olds. One has ears that stand up pretty as a picture. The other one has both ears flopped down, pretty as a beagle. Have no idea why and don't care, they are both equally cute. The floppy eared one had them up/down/one up/one down/alternating/both up/both down/and then they stayed both down. I never intended them as any kind of show dogs, so not a problem. It's a cute look. |
Do you keep the hair on the ears shaved? if the hair is to long it will weigh the ears down and prevent them from standing up. |

At two years of age, I'd say you aren't ever going to get them to stand up. Although, I did groom a little girl that was a year of age. All that was needed was to get the weight of the hair off them and up they came. Breeders do many things to coax the ears to come. Some pups require nothing, others really need help. |
Milly's started sticking up all on their own, by about 9 months olds they were fully sticky-up, but she can still put them down when she's trying to be cute :D I think Yorkies with floppy ears are adorable <3 Chloe looks amazing as she is, so if it doesn't bother you, then I really wouldn't worry about it. |
2 Attachment(s) While we're on the topic of ears, I have a question. I always feel like my groomer tips the ears TOO far down, almost making his ears look larger than they already are LOL... or maybe she leaves too much hair on the sides & tiptop of them. But he's going to a new groomer in a few weeks and wanted to tell her... what do you grooming people think?(maybe I should start a new thread...) |
Oh how cute! He does have rather large ears LOL I couldn't tell you how they're supposed to be groomed, as I'm not a groomer, but my Milly gets the hair removed around the sides too, so the actual ear is very clearly defined, and it looks lovely. Either way though, he still looks adorable :) |
