I was looking for airline prices to Florida and I always make sure I read the pet rules and regulations of an airline if i'm unfamiliar with them. Well i was reading on the Continental Airlines website that if theres an emergency with your pet while on the plane...they will not administer Oxygen? Really? They want to charge 125$ each way for a pet to fly..and not help in an emergency? I know they arent vets...but they arent doctors(for humans) either and they would help them. Right? :confused:

I dont know if all the other airlines are like this...but i'm going to have to start to read very closely when choosing an airline.

Before my husband passed, he was a Customs broker and dealt with a lot of live animals that were shipped in from all over the world. If you wanted to make sure your animals had the best chance of survival, you shipped them on Continental, be they fish from the Orient, snakes from the Amazon or Marmosets from Africa. Continental's animals fly in climate controlled pods ... air conditioned when needed, heated when needed. While the pod is on the tarmac waiting for the plane, the animals inside aren't getting cooked.

If there was any way I could avoid it, I'd never ship an animal in cargo. But there are always "those" instances ... and if I had to, Continental is the only one I'd use. None of them are perfect, but some are better than others.

No, this was listed under PET IN CABIN. I would never ship my dog cargo!!

Not sure if Southwest flies from MA to FLA but I'm flying with my furbaby in 2 weeks and they have been wonderful answering questions about her first flight.

All airlines say this about in cabin pets, in an emergency, the little oxygen masks drop down for you and there are no oxygen masks that fit pets... so I wouldnt blame continental. I have flown continental and other airlines with pets and everything as always worked well.

I have heard JetBlue has an excellent pet program.

I flew SW from Louisiana to Florida and they were wonderful!

I really think the airline means when the plane is going down and the oxygen masks drop out of the ceiling...at that stage I don't think anyone can help anyone but God and the pilot...:eek:

In-cabin pet restrictions:

Only one pet per passenger is allowed in cabin.
One pet per flight is allowed in the front cabin (select aircraft only).
Four pets per flight are allowed in the Economy cabin on all Continental Airlines, Continental Micronesia, Continental Express and Continental Connection (except flights operated by Cape Air) flights.
One pet per flight is allowed in the Economy cabin for Continental Connection flights operated by Cape Air to/from San Juan, PR and within the state of Florida.
Pets are not permitted on flights operated by Cape Air dba Continental Connection to/from Guam.
Pets are not permitted with unaccompanied minors.
Pets are not permitted in the BusinessFirst cabin of Boeing 757, 767 or 777 aircraft due to inadequate storage space under the seat.
Customers traveling with an in-cabin pet on a Boeing 757-200 aircraft must be seated by the window.
Customers traveling with an in-cabin pet may not be seated in the bulkhead or an emergency exit row.
Pets are not permitted on flights to and from Hawaii.
Pet must remain in the kennel at all times on board the aircraft.
Customer is responsible to determine and comply with all state entry requirements which may apply.
Advance arrangements must be made.
Pets under eight weeks old are not permitted.
Pet must travel on the same flight as the owner.
No oxygen will be administered to a pet in the event of an emergency.

It depends where in Fl you are going. South West doesn't go all over FL.
I know this is off subject but, the oil is going to hit here in FL panhandle any day.
