Grooming: How much are you willing to PAY Just curious as to how much folks are willing to spend when it comes to grooming their yorkie. My local petstore told me they charge $46.50, and the vet said they charge (I believe) around $39. I'm still new to this new Yorkie world..so I'm trying to gain more understanding. So, for you how much is too much? What's a fair price? |
Depends on a lot of factors... I look at many things before price even comes into the equation, I look at how long the dog will have to be there, safety issues, number of dogs there at the same time, groomers training, products used, how the groomer treats the pets, first aid training, etc.... its hard enough finding a groomer that fits all these criteria without having to compare prices. Right now I pay 45 dollars/ dog... I have paid up to 70/ dog. |
It also depends on your location... I pay $70 for a mobile groomer that comes to our house and spends one-on-one time with our Rio. She parks her van right outside and brings Rio back all fresh and perfect. We used to take her to another groomer who had her own shop but she kept the dogs both waiting before and after in cages which I didn't want for Rio. Plus she was really rough with Rio, and my lil Rio is only 3 lbs. I know the mobile groomer is expensive but I am assured that Rio is not part of an assembly line that tries to just crank out the dogs as fast as they can. |
I was paying 45 per dog. I really like the groomer, but she just couldnt get what I wanted to do with Bella's face. SO, I started doing it myself. Its a lot easier than I thought. So now it just cost me some time..dat's it:p |
I pay $25.00 for a lady whose office is attached to our vet's. She never keeps Chloe for more than about 2.5 hours or so, calls when she's ready, and is the only groomer I've found that can follow instructions! :) I have paid up to $45 when I had to take Chloe to Petco. The groomer seemed nice enough there, but as others have said, it was like having the dog in an assembly line and it might be four or five hours before she was done. -C |
I never paid the same thing which was one reason I quit taking Maddie to a groomer. She went 3 times, I think, and it was a different price each time. Prices were anywhere from $35 to $50 bucks. However, for a groomer I trusted and spent one on one time with her, I would spend much more. I love the idea of a mobil groomer, but we don't have those here in the sticks. :) |
I think their base price is about $40 ... wash, cut (really, it's more "style"), blow dry, with nails and other things as necessary included. And they're MOST excellent. Now, if I take Bella in and she's matted, well - they charge me extra to comb her out. But they'll take hours if necessary to save her hair. They're good, patient and caring; they could charge whatever they wanted and I'd be happy to pay it. |
I pay $40 for Jack, plus tip. They bathe, dry, cut, clip nails, brush his teeth and whatever else is necessary. |
I tried to edit my last post, but ran out of time... I wanted to add: I had done his grooming until I wanted him to get a puppy cut for summer. I figured I couldn't do it as nicely, so that's why I took him to the groomer. |
Around here I haven't seen anything less then $50 |
I pay $75 dollars for a mobile groomer for 2 dogs. (both for 75) I am very pleased with her because she listens to exactly what I want and they don't have to leave home. :) |
I have a mobile groomer, she charges 45.00 for my sheltie, 35.00 for my maltese and 25.00 for Sofia. |
I pay $60 (including tip) for the place I was bringing him to. I felt comfortable leaving him there, the groomer was nice, he always came out happy and looking good, and would be there for about 3 hours. I recently found a mobile groomer who I will be using next and she charges $55 per dog, so I'm sure I'll be paying $60 for her too, but it's worth it to me, for him to stay in our driveway and be done within an hour. I called around and most mobiles costed between $70-$90. |
I live in canton so your price should not differ much if anything i think it will be cheaper most places in canton/akron charge 25-35 for a yorkie the pet stores charge from 40-55 this is for a non-matted dog i did find a woman who specializes in dogs with hair she is out by Myers lake and she charges 15 for a silky coat and 20 for a cotton but if you call she will tell you 20. she is good she dose one dog at a time and calls when she is finished a full groom is a bath, hand blow dry, nails, ears, trim or style, teeth, anal sacs ( not in that order) she will let you bring your own shampoo but hes smells good and has never bothered Gatsby |
I pay 80 for my two plus tip, I know there are some place i have taken them to that are cheaper but I wasn't happy with them. One of them even nicked one of them under his leg and didn't even tell me. I didn't even notice until I got home. I was pissed!!! I love the place I go and if they increased their prices I would probably stay. They are very professional, the dogs have appts, they seem to keep on time, my boys are there a couple of hours (and that's only because I have two of them there). Its an open enviornment and the staff are great. |
