So Scary. Its been almost a week since this happened and its took this long to stop looking over my shoulder. We were off to join my sister for their regular afternoon pack walk, passing what is normally a quiet corner, when this dog [german shepard cross] jumped straight over the garden wall and tried to attack poor Rosie. I had all 3 of my pups with me at the time [12 week old chi pup in my arms] and the other two on their leads. I literally had to fight this dog off with my feet while its useless owner stood and watched for what seamed hours but was only seconds before he finally moved and grabbed his dog to return to his home. This dog is known to be dog agressive, so much so people with dogs nearby wont let them out into their own front yards. It should of never been loose in the front...... Thankgoodness the law is hopefully being changed over here soon to make these people take more responsibility for their dogs behaviour. |
How scary that is, I had a similar situation happen to me a couple of weeks ago. I was walking my 3 dogs and noticed a dog across the street from where we were crossing but saw that he was on a chain so thought we were safe, but wrong that dog broke off of his chain and came running across the intersection after us (he was very lucky no cars were coming) and my dogs went nut s and I didn't know what to do. I tried to keep him away but there was no way I could get him back home. Luckily there was a guy walking his dog across from us and asked if that was my dog told him no but could he please go knock at their door and have them come get him. I see now that they have put up a chain linked fence around their back yard. yeah |
Im SOOO afraid of this there is a younger teenage boy that goes around our block with a GIANT pitbull now I love pits but it just makes me nervous because i dont know the dog and if it wanted to it could drag that boy down the road thats why I love the harness because in an extreme situation you could pull them up by the leash and not hurt them |
:( oh my gosh this must have been terrifying for you all  thank god everybody is ok , i am from the uk too , the law needs to be changed  it really is scary taking our babies out for a walk , i feel much safer when my husband is also with us  what kind of place do we live in ? take care love jill n poppy xx :aimeeyork |
We have several neighbors who let their dogs run loose in the front yard, even though they have a fenced in backyard. Some of these dogs are agressive, and it's scary to walk my little ones as these dogs are all bigger. I wish all owners were responsible and kept their dogs on leash and trained them to not be agressive. |
Did you report the incident to the authorities? I don't know what the rules are in your area, but around here animal control will come out and warn the owners. If there are a certain number of warnings or the dog has attacked someone, they will make you put up a warning sign in your front yard and you can't have the dog outside unleashed (it just happened to one of my neighbors- a big yellow sign on their mail box that says "dangerous dog") Glad your babies are ok. I'm sure it was scary. |
I'm glad to hear that everyone's dogs are safe. My dog was attacked by a silky last year at an outdoor garden shop and hasn't gotten over it. It was the owners dog.. She is afraid of all dogs now except my friend's Yorkie. I've taken her to Yorkie Meet-Ups and that seems to be helping a little. She had another close call where a huge mixed breed came running from his yard. You can lift the dog up if you are able too, but if a large agressive dog wants your dog, it will hurt you to get to it. I now carry Citronella Spray. I thought about Pepper Spray but my situation doesn't warrant it at this time. I guess it depends on the neighborhoods you frequent. If anyone wants to carry Pepper Spray you should check with your local Police Dept. to see if it's allowed and if you need a license. I don't need a permit or license here for the Citronella Spray. Good Luck out there everyone, and have a safe summer. :) |

It makes me so mad when I've worked so hard at ensuring my dogs are people and dog friendly that something like this happens, especially when I had a new pup with me.. They seam to be fine with other, friendly dogs', but I guess time will tell if I'm going to have any after effects to deal with. |
oh my god, that sounds so frightening. :-o I hope you're all ok. |
