Dog Parks: Do you have them and do you take them Does your city or town have dog parks, a fenced in area that dogs can play and run with each other~? Have you ever taken them there~? Has it worked out for you~? Or is your dog not interested in playing with the other dogs there~? I am considering to join ours since he seems lonely and needs a playmate. |
I just found out we have 3 dog parks within a reasonable drive from us. I'm going to go check them out without Rhett to see what they are like. I guess I'm a worry wart- I'm not worried about how he will behave, but I do worry about irresponsible owners letting their dogs run amok and hurting him. |
Mine got really angry if she sees a dog that she doesn't know |
Mine is really friendly and socializes with every dog and human that comes his way. I tried it out today, and all he did was smell the other dogs, tho there wasn't many there since it is blazing hot outside. Lately, he whines when I leave in mornings, so I thought it would be a good idea. Plus he's really never played with another dog....only sniffing. |
I take mine to the dog park... I wish we had one closer so that I could go more often. Mine LOVE playing with the other dogs. I only take them to parks that have a small dog section and I will leave if there is a dog that is acting aggressive. |
How much is it to join the dog parks where ya'll are at~? |
We have a few, but they are not real close. I take Carlo to Petsmart where it takes an hour for everyone to pet him. For play, I sometimes will take him to spend a day at the raining Facility as they also have a Doggie Day care and they all know him. He loves spending a few hours there. Can't take him now though as his Immune System is weakend. Can't bring Maxine to a Park like that or she will ignore the dogs, or go attacking the big ones, and I can't be held liable for the damage she can do with her remaining front teeth. |

We have several dog parks nearby. My daughter took our pomeranian puppy with a friend that has a small dog, last week, to a local dog park. My poor little pom was afraid of the other dogs, except for one tiny little yorkie. We figure he liked that dog, since we also have recently brought home a yorkie puppy. I am not too sure if I will ever take our yorkie to a dog park unless to just play with our pomeranian off leash in one of the fenced areas. All of the dog parks here, they are free. They all provide clean up bags, toys to play with, treats, bathing stations. Some even have little ponds and sprinklers for the dogs to play in during the warmer months. I know it will be awhile before we can take our Yorkie puppy to a dog park, because she has been sick with kennel cough and also needs to have all her vaccines. As mentioned, I am really not too sure though about taking her to these parks. I worry about her getting possibly hurt or picking up kennel cough again or something worse. |
Yup :) I go weekly and love it. Jackson just has the time of his life there, and I enjoy socializing as well. I have 2 dog parks, both about 20 mins away in opposite directions. The one costs money ($6 per day/or $40 per year) but the other is free. Jackson enjoys both, it just depends on the day which one is better, but I try to go atleast once a week. We see little yorkies there ALL the time. |
We have several of them around town, all free. some of them are pretty cool (they even have areas for small dogs) but I would never take my boys now. My vet said he sees too many dogs catch things there and parvo is the main thing he sees. He highly suggested I never take the boys and we haven't since. |
We go to the dog park all the time. It is Couver's favorite place to go... I am very protective and always leave if I notice a dog being aggressive. People call him the dog park 'mascot' because he's so bossy and not afraid of bigger dogs. I could not imagine Couver living without his trips to the dog park :p |
We have them and they're free. Depending on the area, the doggy parks vary. In a nice area, the parks have green grass, and poop bags. In a not so nice area, they have dirt, one bench, and no poop bags. Both have big dog and little dog sections. I like them, Kaji loves them. I don't like when people can't be bothered to pick up or monitor their dogs. That happens anywhere. Kaji has a really good time, except when he's being picked on. I started having get togethers with people I met on YT. Everyone watches their own dog, and they're all nice. Never had a problem there. :D |
We have several in my area. Just one word of caution. Before letting your dog play just stand back and watch the others and how they play. I took Bella to a park that separated the small dogs from the large dogs. There were several large breed puppies in the small dog side. One boxer puppy towered over Bella and played a little too rough with her. This dog probably doubled or tripled Bella's wt. While they are too small to go to the Big dog side, they are too big for yorkies. Especially when they bounce so much. The poor beautiful lil boxer was playful and did NOT mean any harm to my Bella but he bounced right on top of her smooshing her into the ground and made her yelp. Of course that was IT for her. She stayed right between my feet and we had to leave. It's kinda sad. Wish they had restrictions on max size for the small dog side:rolleyes: |
