Dog Beach?? What do you all think of dog beaches?? I have some really nice ones here in So calif, and my friend wants me to take Pnut with her and her dog Todd ( yorkie pom mix) I am not sure if Pnut will like it?? He doesnt really like the dog parks, he just walks around and sniffs and pees on everything, and never really plays with any other dogs. I guess he is picky who he plays with lol because he LOVES Todd!! I was just curious on everyones exp at the dog beaches!!:aimeeyork Oh and pictures would be great to see!! |
Since dog beaches are open for all size dogs, I would not take mine because they are tiny. Someone on here posted a video of a large dog attacking a tiny Yorkie and I've heard some horror stories from a friend of mine who lives in southern CA. about the high number of Pit Bulls running the dog beaches and attacking other dogs. If you take yours, keep them on leashes, but I'd try and find a more isolated beach to roam on. ;) |
I dont mind beaches that allow dogs...but i'm not a huge fan of "Dog beaches". Simply because most dog beaches dont have a leash law. The beaches that allow dogs , you usually have to keep them on a leash. Many people "think" their dogs are friendly and wont attack another dog...but you never know. I need to know my dog is safe..and they have control of their dog by being on a leash. Does this make sense? |
 Thanks guys, I decided not to take him, I dont want him to be unsafe.. I dont even take him to the dog parks just bc I would never want something to happen to him. Dh and I decided just to drive down to the beach and walk around, eat some lunch outside.. Let Peanut cruise around with us :D Thanks for the advise! |
Kaji loves mingling at dog beaches. He never goes into the water. The only problem I've seen is humpers. Most pet parents are really good about watching their dogs, and most dogs there are so focused on playing with their owners that they don't bother anyone. I would wear shoes though. The dogs pee everywhere so it's best to keep your feet covered. :) He's also gone to the beaches that allow dogs but they must be leashed. The only thing I don't like about those beaches is the restrictions. Most beaches near LA will only allow dogs on the beach from 5 am to 7 am, and then again in the afternoon from 5 pm to 7 pm. I might be a little off with the times since I looked these up months ago. The only beach where we can have fun on our schedule so far is the dog beach. Unless I drive down to Del Mar again. But they have crazier restrictions depending on the season. If I remember right, after memorial day dogs are restricted to a tiny portion of the beach. |
You're lucky you have so many! Jackson LOVES the beach. He goes crazy with water and beaches, lol. We only have one dog beach close to me (it's inside of our state park, with the big dog park we go to) and it's closed due to erosion. :( I don't let Jackson off leash though because it's not fenced and I don't trust him enough so I put him on a long leash. The beach isn't even big tho. :( |
