~new with questions~ I know there are no such standard or breed as Tea cup or toy yorkies. I wanted to know if there are specific lines that produce small or is it just small dogs by freak nature? |
I don't know about lines, but like any other living animal some produce smaller some produce larger. That's just genetics. |
I understand about all that but certain lines throw certain looks right? Is there a line of smaller dogs? What blinds throw what look? |
When a person breeds they have to keep the dogs they have, and the ones they're about to bring into the world, in mind. Overall health and the improvement of breed is what matters. When a breeder only focuses on one aspect, whether size, facial features, short legs, or whatever, they tend to ignore the overall picture. In order to answer your question, you would have to research lines many generations back. If you are looking for someone to say, "Hey, the lines from *So-N-So* Kennel have bitches that free whelp dogs that grow no more than 2 lbs," it's not gonna happen. |
Welcome to YT. Not sure there is a specific answer to your question. With the popularity of the breed and so many shady breeders jumping on the bandwagon, "lines" are a hard thing to predict these days. I'd chance to wager that most Yorkie breeders you encounter these days can't even lay Most breeders who have be selective with their breeding over the years, who could actually give an accurate prediction of what their "lines" will throw, do not breed specifically for tiny dogs. |
Thank you for all of your answers. I am looking to stay away from the 2 pound dogs. I am new to all of this and just heard alot about certain lines do this or that and just figured maybe lines throw smaller dogs. I love all animals just not interested in a tiny dog. To me a 5 pound dog and a 2 pound dog is a big difference, Plus i can find way more clothes for a 5 pound dog |
