spayed today! Doesnt look so great! My poor baby girl got spayed today! She looks so unhappy and oh so groggy!! She also had 4 teeth pulled! All I want to do is hold her. Anybody have any good tips or advice?:confused::confused: |
Ask your vet. Mine sent me home with a list of instructions. Like: -No bath for 2 weeks -No long walks for 2 weeks -No jumping for 2 weeks. -Give him pain meds at whatever interval she said (sorry I can't remember) She will be groogy if she was spayed today, she's still under the effects of the anesthesia. Keep her calm for a while. What my vet said may not apply to you since yours is a girl and a spay is much more invasive than a neuter. Don't worry, they bounce back quickly. :) I forgot to add, do you have a cone thingy to keep her from licking her stitches? Some don't bother their stitches, for others stitches drive them crazy. Keep her from licking or pulling down there, she could hurt herself. |
Just let her sleep, it's the best medicine. I know my vet gives them a pain shot that is good for 24 hours and that can make them groggy too. Some extra loving also helps. |
TLC is the best medicine:) |
She will be back to herself in no time. Just and FYI, Coral had several accidents after she was spayed. I called to vet to make sure it was normal and he said that it was from anesthesia. I also used an infant onesie to keep her from licking her stitches. |
She is still groggy from the anesthesia. Just let her sleep and get lots of rest. She will be feeling better in a few days. :) |
Pain meds and love. :) You can hold her if you want to. |
Lots of TLC |
They're so pitiful after being spayed or neutered, but it's a great time to spoil them rotten!:) |

Like everyone said, pain meds and love. Addie had a really tough time of it, as I'm sure many do. She lost a couple of baby teeth too and wouldn't really eat dry food. Wet food, or if need be, boiled chicken and rice. Make sure she's eating and drinking by tomorrow. She'll be okay, it just takes some time to heal. |
Thanks everyone! She's been asleep in my arms for awhile! I softened up a small amount of her food with water and she ate it! Her eyes are really goopy? Is this normal? Its so sad to see her like this. I must admit tho, its nice to have her snuggle with me! She is usually so wild and crazy!!! The onezie idea sounds great!!! Thanks again everyone its so nice to have a little support from my yorkie talkers!! |
I had my boy neutered on Monday. It was sad when I got him home. He slept in my lap most of the evening and then in his crate all night. I think this is normal. He has bounced back to life very quickly. Best wishes with your little one. Turn on the tube and just cuddle up on the couch! |
