Like Twoforfun I would offer $200 at the most. The baby needs a better home than the girl will give him...poor guy:( My cousin took a beautiful yorkie from a girl in a similar rehoming situation. The girl wanted $300, but $200 was all my cousin wanted to pay. The only difference was this one was trained really well. Good luck...I hope he gets your family. :) |

You guys may hate me, but Yorkies and little kids don't always get along. Kids want what they want, and a Yorkie is a toy breed, and kids want toys. The problem is you can't just throw the dog in a toybox when you are finished playing with him. If you really feel comfortable taking this dog in as a rescue, I think that's great, but the whole thing sounds fishy to me, and I wouldn't believe anything this owner says. Yorkies are really smart, they tend to be easy to train, but some things like peeing all over the house, barking and biting can be problems with this particular breed. Just read some of the posts in this forum. Regardless, $500 is rediculous, even with the bonus fleas. Good luck with this, and I'll be watching this post to see what happens. Obviously, this little guy needs help, and you definitely sound like the person to do it. |
No worries, Ziggy...we've had a Yorkie, a tiny one at that, and my son is the sweetest, gentlest kid you'd wanna know. He's great with small pets and babies :) She never did call back so I guess she's not having us anyway. :(:( |

She's gone out of town for the weekend, leaving the dog home so the neighbor can come over and feed him. He COULD have been having a blast with his new boy at the birthday party today!!! :( |

I hope she's not holding out for more money because she wants to make a buck. If she's serious about rehoming the puppy you think she would have jumped at the opportunity. If you do get him, I would ask her to take him to the vets (you can meet her there) and get him flea dipped and checked right away (with you paying, of course). No sense you bringing a dog with fleas in to your car, clothes and home. |
I would ask her if she would take $200. If she said let me think about it, I'd offer $250. Just start a bidding war. Get that puppy out of there.:cool: |

If it were me , I would rescue this poor little yorkie , I'd look at it that way. AND offer her $250, max , since he just got fixed I'd pay for that and the rest of it as a small rehoming fee . Everybody knows that yorkies are expensive , no matter what . SO the woman probably is thinking she can make a profit just because he is a yorkie . Even though he is not up to standard , yorkie;s are the most popular breed in the U.S The problems he has can be dealt with , as long as he is medically healthy , then he ought to turn out to be a wonderful dog. Fleas are the number one big issue here , because they can cause a whole host of issues . I hope he can find a wonderful , loving home soon . He really deserves a nice home and to be loved . |
I'd offer more too. I'm thinking maybe $250. I mean she probably just paid more than $100 to have him neutered so maybe she's trying to recoup some of that. And I have seen alot of rescue's being sold for way more than $100. And I know the fleas are an issue but maybe you could buy frontline and apply it before he even comes home? I adopted a kitten once with infested with fleas but I was able to get them all cleared up with in a day or two and didn't get an infestation in my house so I think it can be done. And I would think most rescue require a bit of training. I read somewhere that the #1 reason dogs are rehomed is housebreaking issues so you might have that problem with most rescue dogs.... Good luck! I'm hoping you are able to get him! |
Awww, That is so sad, I can't imagine leaving my little guy alone for an entire weekend, he goes with me everywhere. I feel so bad for this little yorkie :( I hope you get him. |

LOL, Tammy, that's actually crossed my mind! hahaha. I'm still hoping that we can work something out when she comes back in town. I hope she REALLY does want a good home for him and is willing to sell him to us for a fair price. We'll see. |

Fleas - bathe him before he enters your home. $ - offer her what you think fair, and tell her if she can\'t find a home then to give you a call....that\'s what I would do - when I look into Mr. Darcy\'s or Lizzie\'s eyes - I couldn\'t imagine someone looking into the eyes of a dog they have and not want to do the best they can for it - so it is happy and not unhealthy.... |
i hope it works out..i would take him straight to the groomers if he is a current rabies that way no fleas enter the home..and change clothes in the back yard maybe..hee hee..and use a travel crate to keep any fleas confined at least some |
