Topknot Help! How long can the bow be on her head? I tried putting one on Teri, and it created a fuzzball on her head when I took out the band and the bow. I was curious on how to prevent the fuzzball. I don't want the poor baby to torn her hair out. |
I'm a rookie at that too and have the same problem, but it seems to come out OK when I comb it out. I've heard people say they keep them in 24-7 but redo it once a day and comb it out. Here's a thread that discussed it. Note the second post that links to a cool site that explains how to put one in. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...r-topknot.html |
So I have to redo the knot everyday? How do you get your baby to stand still? Mine always moves and jump. She lost a lot of her hair already ;[ |
The thread that alaskayorkie linked has an AWESOME tutorial! That's how I learned to do the topknot. I was doing it all wrong until I saw that! Here it is: Topknots shared by Linda Grimm and Maria Lelinho starring Rocky! Many Thanks! How old is your baby? I only do Uni's topknot for special occasions bc she doesn't have a lot of hair. for everyday I just use mini barrettes. You have to train them to hold still. Brush her several times a day, and teach the stay or freeze command. If you keep doing it all the time, they will just accept it is a part of yorkie life. :) |

Also, when you brush, groomers recommend using some kind of conditioning spray and never to brush dry. |
To Mike: :p back at ya! To OP: Don't forget to use a good brush too! Any old brush won't do! I use the Madan brush from Mimimomo and also she has top knot gel, rat tail comb, and don't forget the band scissors. They are itty bitty scissors with a special curved blade so you can pull a bit of the rubber band out away from the hair and cut it, then unravel the band from the hair, so you don't cut any hair by accident. |
