Grooming Your Own Ok... so I have a fabulous professional groomer, but her prices are going up a wee bit...so I am thinking of grooming my two girls on my own. Does anyone have advice. I like to keep them in a puppy cut. I already trim their toenails and give them baths (of course;)) I just need advice on how to trim their fur. Should I go get the electric clippers? what exactly do I need? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!:D |

I groom my 4 but they are in long coats. I have never been able to figure out how to use a clipper, except for a small one on their ears. Hopefully someone who can help will see this soon. |
check out the grooming section. there are tons of threads there right now about at home grooming supplies and advice. :) |
My biggest tip for you is to go slow and remember HAIR GROWS BACK! :D They might not look fabulous the first few times you groom them, but you'll learn as you go. I do Kaji's hair myself, and to make things easier I use electric clippers on his body and I do his ears and face with scissors. I guess you can call it a puppy cut? I'm still learning though. I should be giving him a trim soon, but I'm loving his long mustache and his constant bed head. In other words, I'm LAZY! :p |
I do Shadow's myself to but still learning. I use clippers on his back and belly but use scissors on his legs, face and ears. I'm learning more each time I do it. At first he looked funny LOL but as time goes on, I'm getting the hang of it....Good Luck! Don't be hard on yourself if it doesn't come out like they do at the groomers! :) |
