What Do You Think Of This Rescue? 3 Attachment(s) I have interest in this Yorkie rescue baby. I don't know much except the owner cannot take care of this puppy and that she has pure bred papers. The baby is 6 months old and 5.5 pounds. It is a female. Do you think it looks pure bred? If it's 5.5 pounds at 6 months old, how big do you think she will grow. I don't care a whole lot about a pure bred dog, but I don't really want a dog who is going to dominate my 9 pound Cooper. I know little about the Yorkie breed (my Coopy is yorkie/maltese), but I'm curious about your opinions. |
If you double the weight at 12 weeks, you get an approximate full grown weight. If he's less than 6 now, it's a pretty good bet he won't pass 7-8. Not that size matters when it comes to domination. My niece's 5 lb yorkie runs roughshed over my BIL's 40 lb Staffordshire Bull Terrier. YorkieInfoCenter | Yorkshire Terrier Growth Chart He's adorable, BTW. Very sweet face and great ears! |

Great ears? Oh goodness I wonder if she will grow into them! She doesn't look mixed to you? |
I don't think she looks 100% yorkie to me. Maybe yorkie/schnauzer or something like that. The hair on the face looks wiry. She is very cute no matter what she is!:) As for the dominance, it doesn't matter the size of the dog. Even a little dog can be dominant to a big dog. |
Her face looks a little "non yorkie" to me, but she could be purebred... no other breed really tends to jump out at you... she IS ADORABLE! She likely wont get as big as your current guy... but you can never say for sure... some grow early, some grow later. Is it possible to have the two meet before you commit to taking her? |
I love the bigger ears on the little ones. IMO, it makes them look like they could take flight at any moment. Oliver has ears that I swear are half his body weight :p |
Oh i definitely want them to both meet. I'm so excited. The fact that I could be getting a rescue dog makes me ridiculously happy. I'll probably want my personal vet to look at her too, even after she has seen the rescue vet. I don't want to rush things but :hearts6: - she seems sweet. |
Pretty cute. I think all of her hair being cut off is what makes people think she might not be yorkie. She looks yorkie to me. You said she had papers, but with what registry? Not that it matters. Her personality is what matters the most. |

She has little (big?) bat ears :D. When her hair grows back, they won't be so noticeable ;). Right now, it's part of her charm. As others have said, weight has nothing to do with holding one's own. Bella is about 4.5 lbs. Puddie's about 9, Jax is 14, and Nitro is 70. Puddie may *think* he's alpha, but only as long as he doesn't do something Bella doesn't like. THEN she reads him the riot act. And Nitro backs her up ;) . It's all about the 'tude! The little one is cute. She needs a home. If she fits the bill, make her one of the family ... she'll fit in nicely. |
Well, if she's that age and doesn't have any more coat than that then I wouldn't think she is a yorkie. Mine always had a coat and were starting to look unkempt at that age.:D |
[QUOTE=Lee B;3131650]She may not be able to take care of the pup because she's sick ... that happens a lot. Also, if her grooming was neglected for whatever reason, it's a lot easier for the Rescue (AND the dog!) to get clipped short, to grow out with proper care and brushing. :D What a doll face, i love the big ear's;) |
Adorable. She looks more Australian Terrier to me, which is from the same family as a Yorkie. :) Silky's, Australian Terriers and Yorkies often get mixed up. Good luck! |
