Don't worry about being rude if someone didn't even have the manners to ASK you - That's an accident waiting to happen and it only takes a split second for them to lose their grip - so BE BLUNT - they'll live I've never had that problem - I've let people hold mine but only when they ASKED and I was able to tell them they wiggle so be very careful - if they just grabbed one of mine they'd know in a hot minute I don't like it and neither do my girls - they love being held by people they know but not strangers |
I just tell anyone who even looks like they might want to pick Ally up - Please do not pick her up, she is just to fragile and does not like being picked up. Seems to work for me and our little Ally. |

Excellent suggestions! Even if they don't apply to your dog you could still say these things to keep obnoxious people away. |
I am having this issue too so I am glad to read the different ideas posted here. :goodpost: |
Ugh, I HATE that. Some girl snuck up behind my boyfriend and I at the pet store and started petting my pup who was IN my purse without even asking us. I saw her hanging out around us at first, but she literally walked around us and then back to pet him, like she was trying to be sneaky! How rude! I think it's super inconsiderate to touch other people's things without even having the decency to ask, and I really have no patience for people without manners. You can just ask! Sheesh! |
I have a very strict no picking up rule, Sophie Kate is a wiggler and I use that as the reason (and I think its valid). Last year at our local Farmers Market this little old man saw Sophie Kate in my sling and he made a bee line over to pat her head. I thought it was cute, like a drive by petting. Most the time people are very polite and will ask if they can pet her. |
