TYING OUT 2 YORKIES?????? Any advice? I live up north - my garden is not fenced - and I am trying to train Lizzie to just 'go' outside. First thing in the morning as soon as I get up, Lizzie and Mr. Darcy get up too (they both sleep on our bed - so not crated):D....I know to catch her right away (or she goes on her pppad) I have to put on their harnesses, then clip them onto two very thin (strong) ropes, at my side door - I DO stand and watch them, but as soon as they get outside, Lizzie gets so excited she jumps all over Mr. Darcy!.....so of course they are totally tangled in about 30 seconds! I have tried tying them on the same hook, and also tried on 2 separate hooks about 3 feet apart - she still tangles them all up. I know walking them might solve this problem, but I have to get dressed etc. and there is no time...Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? |
How about putting up a small exercise pen just outside your door that you could slip them into each morning without having to go very far? |
I have 2 exercise pens connected together that fence in the area from my sliding glass door. I can let them out and know they can't run free. I stay at the open door watching them. It works out great for me. Also, if I am sitting out there they can be with me. |
Let Lizzie out first if she is the one that needs to go out first then Mr Darcy when they get in they can play and jump. I let two of mine out at a time because they both have their special spots to go and then they come in and play. It helps that one is a Border and the other a Morkie.:p |
We have 2 different potty areas depending on what side of the house we're on. The door I let my dogs out in the morning we put up 2 exercise pens in a moon around our deck stairs so that they can so run around free in the morning. The door we let the dogs out the remainder of the day I have to tie outs 3 feet apart. It works best for us to have the exercise pen around our deck stairs because we use that area alot and when we have bbq's and what not we don't have to worry about he dogs getting let out by a guest. |
Not sure...but I hope you are using a Harness and NOT a collar :( |
Yep definitely harnesses - always. I think the exercise pen is the best idea - that's what I will do!! Thanks - don't know why I didn't think of that:thumbup: |
