In need of some advice/help Hello everyone. Great to find this site. Hope it can help. I am the proud mom of Bella who is 15 mths old. My mom is the proud parent of Casper who will be 1 yr old next week and Jasper who will be 1 yr old in July. My situation is this: Bella had her first heat in Feb of this year. Bleeding, swelling and the boys went nuts. Actually had a locking but thankfully no puppies! But now it seems she may be in heat again! The boys are sniffing and trying to mount her constantly! Is it possible for her to be in heat AGAIN? |
Not sure on the heat, but have you considered getting them all fixed? Best of luck |
Hi and welcome to YT. Are you wanting to have pups? If not, spay, spay, spay. |
Welcome to YT. Your going to love it here. There is so much you will learn from this YT. I'm not sure about the heat, but you may want to think about getting them all fixed. That way you don't have to worry about puppies. :welcome4: |

Just like people, every dog is different but I think I read that there has to be at least 4 months between cycles. Maybe she is just getting ready soon and the boys are already sensing a change. Can you see any changes with her vulva to indicate she's coming into heat? |
Are you planning on breeding her? If not, get her spayed as soon as possible, we read about accidental pregnancies daily. If so, please read this first. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-answered.html Remember that only you are responsible for her health, and panties, diapers and bellybands are not going to stop a male. |
I am one of those unfortunate people they are talking about who had an accidental pregnancy...it was nerve wracking and could have been very bad for both momma (who was 11 months when she gave birth) and for the baby because there was only one. $1600 later after a c-section everyone is fine but it is absolutely NOT something I would suggest anyone do. It's a long story why she wasn't spayed and she had a heat that was literately invisible and only one lock but that's all it took! If you aren't planning on puppies save yourself the headache and get everyone fixed! Glad you found us on YT! Hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing you around! :-) |

Also if you do want to breed it should be in a planned way. Right now go with the boys response and keep them away from her. She needs to be crated - away from the boys. They need to go separately on walks and for their potty times. You definitely do not want these young dogs to bred yet without all the require health checks. |
My suggestion is this. If you are not going to get her fixed soon, then take every precaution possible to keep her separated from the boys, if you dont want babies. and to be extra cautious keep her in a doggy diaper, that way it will be harder for them to get her if there is an accident were they all get out together. I know it is expensive to have a spay done, but it is sooooo much easier than trying to keep them separated all the time. not to mention it will keep her more healthy..good luck |
