I'm so happy to see you I'm gonna Pee all over Everytime I come home from being gone... whether 5 hours or 5 min. my furbabe greets me with a puddle. Not just me but my husband or anyone else who comes through the door. She has been a dream to potty train and aside from this annoying habit.. she's perfect :D. I've tried ignoring her but once I make eye contact... whoosh. Any thoughts on how to break this? Is there a category for behavior or odd behavior on here? Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. |
I have no solutions, and I know this is not funny, but it's funny. |
How old is she? If she is young, she may outgrow this. Maggie May "used" to do this too. Victoria Stilwell says that it is excitement pee and that it is best to ignore the dog until she calms down. We did this too. I don't know it was that or her just getting older but it has stopped. She is now 2. Best of luck. |

Chloe is 7 months. I have tried ignoring her but she holds it until I look at her. What's a keegal? I thought everyone had this issue with their furbabies. I feel so alone :D. |
This could be excitement or Submissive peeing - there's a ton of info on the net on how you can help her - after a while it wont be cute even though we think everything they do is cute :D it's good you're laughing about it now - but she's young enough where you may be able to get a handle on it.....I've heard it's not uncommon but have no advise |
Just thought I'd mention... I'm not the one who thinks it's cute as I'm the one who has to clean it up. |
maybe grab her up first thing and take her outside until she is old enough to hold excitement pee I never had this problem so i cant offer personal advice |
My dog does this because his previous owners beat him. In your case its excitement and she will grow out of it :) |
Abby does this too. I think it is called submissive urination and some vets put dogs on meds for it (like a nerve pill). Abby is 14 months old and she still does it. It's not so bad that I would put her on medication, but it is aggravating. I try to open the door and let her come outside to greet me and then she wets outdoors instead of on the floor. When I take her to my daughter's house (who has two dogs) she gets excited and does it there too. She has done it at the vet's office also. I'm afraid to take her anywhere! The other day my husband was sick and when I got home he was in bed and Abby was on the bed too. She heard me come in and started barking but I didn't identify myself and she started growling. When she finally realized it was me, she wet all over the bed! I had to wash everything. Our previous dog was a rat terrier and she had that problem also, but mostly outgrew it. Maybe it's the way we treat our dogs that causes it? |
She's so precious it's hard to get upset with her. She does however know that I am not thrilled with this behavior. She will lay on her back (I think she THINKS she wont' go) but it trickles out anyway. It's so sweet how she is trying to work with me and I appreciate that.. I'm just not sure how to break this nasty little habit. I will google urinating submission ... hopefully I'll learn something there. Thanks for the suggestions. |
