How to manage Yorkie Coat? I would really appreciate any pointers on how to manage my yorkie's coat. His hair is very coarse. I can brush him, but he is still straggly and knotted. Any products that may help? THANKS!! |
I use a good shampoo and conditioner - human shampoo & conditioner. Tresume seems to do a good job my my two. |
I use Yorkie Splash n' Shine - available from a YT seller (sorry, I can't find the user name/link). As I understand it, human shampoo should never be used, since the Ph balance is completely different, and it will also strip your dog's skin of natural oils and dry it out/irritate it. |
we use eqyss. I love how silky and soft both my yorkie and my maltese feel. I have also noticed since feeding raw diet with acana has had a positive effect on the quality of their coats. Good luck. We all have to try by trial and error what will work for us. |
You need Iv San Bernard's PEK conditioner. The thread is long but filled with great results for yorkies with matting coats. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-jencar98.html |

Honestly, the PEK is *the* product that allows me to keep Reno in long coat. Without it, I would be one frustrated yorkie Mom! And, with my shorter coat kids, they don't mat, hair feels so silky, even our little poodle, Louis. |
Hi, I use a product that I get from my groomer...it's just wonderful, it's called Tropiclean...I think I can't give out the name of the groomer? It's a mobile one, and they are very green, all shampoos, facial scrubs, etc are fantastic! I have my kids groomed once a month like clockwork and then shampoo only once inbetween, I don't have long coats, they are now into their Arizona Summer Cuts, but they are cute! |
