It Stinks!! I live in a development with very strict rules about garbage. We have to keep our garbage bins in the garage. Well, as you can imagine, after a week's worth of poo bags from my little furrbutt, it positively stinks in the garage. I tried using a separate kitchen garbage pail for just the poo and emptying it on garbage day, but that just made it worse. I don't know what else to do. My garage stinks to high heavens, and now my car actually smells when I get in it, just from being in the garage (I swear, it's true!). Anyone have any ideas on how I can solve this problem? Any recommendations for an airtight garbage pail (or other product that might help)? |
What about using a diaper genie like what new moms use for stinky diapers. This might really solve the problem and will, at least contain it until garbage day! You can get them and the special bags to hold the poo-poo at target, walmart etc. They aren't that expensive now! Good luck! :-) |

Are you talking about the potty bags, like you use to collect poo during a walk or something? How about flushing the poo before trashing the bag? Sorry, that's all I can think of that might help. |
I flush my little girl's deposits down the toilet. |
Both suggestions sound great to me |
I have a mini garbage can with a lid hidden on the front porch that I put all the poo bags in until trash day. My dad rigged the lid with wire mesh so that it's "vented". It works really well for us; no one ever noticed that its there. |
I just had another idea. Do you have a patio or a private area in the back where you can keep a small can? Something the neighbors wouldn't be able to see? Ooops, I just noticed the poster above was thinking along similar lines. :) |
they're so small, i'd just flush it down the toilet.... |
This is what I use to scoop Roxie's poop. Dispoz-A-Scoop Biodegradable Bags - Outdoor Solutions - Clean Up/Stain & Odor Control - PetSmart I had thought about a small pail on the front porch, but I don't want people to see or smell dog poo as they come to my front door. |

Thanks! |
They have little garbage bag thingys for baby diapers that are fairly inexpensive and scented. They tie up tight and you can get them at Wal-Mart. Also, you may could try taping some of those cheap tree-shaped air fresheners IN the garbage can. (At least, that's what the people in my neighborhood suggest.) I feel your pain. Our neighborhood recently decided to pass a similar rule where you have to store your garbage can either in the back of your house, or in your garage. The people with them in their garage say that the sweltering AL heat really gets them stinking. We have no garage and put in in the back yard. A couple times of the hound smelling something in there and knocking it over when she was out and we just got rid of ours! We use the neighbor's. Between us, we never even fill up the can. It's a nice agreement--we use his garbage can and in return, I cook extras for him once or twice a week. He's a single guy and welcomes the food! :p |

Have you considered feeding raw? Their poopies don't have as much odor...For Real  |
