Tips for Flying with my Yorkie Lady Hi Everyone! I am flying with my 6 month old yorkie next weekend, and I was curious if anyone had any tips or experiences to share. Generally Isabelle is nervous the first time she tries new things, I am worried she will cry the whole time. If anyone has any tips or suggestions to make it go smoother let me know. She will be in the cabin of course with me :) |
Check out the traveling threads in the Breeders section. There's plenty of info there. I think most Yorkies do great flying. It's we human parents that are nervous :D |
I just flew with my litle Biewer this past February. The only thing that I would suggest (and I'm so glad the airport check-in guy talked me into it) was to upgrade to Business (first) class. There is so much more room to put the carrier and pupper on the floor under ther seat in front of you. In coach, the area beneath the seat in front of you is so small. Even though my guy was little (3 lbs), I would have hated to have had to squish him under there. |
Arizona to Western NY We fly with Bella twice a year on a long flight. She does GREAT! We started getting her used to her plane carrier early on. We even sat her at Starbucks (outside) so she could get used to people looking in but not being able to come out. I wrap her travel pad in disposable pee pads, two layers in case she can't hold it for the 6 hours. I also drape her case with a blanket as that always makes her go to sleep. I have food/water ready for her so we can meet those needs immediately. It has been painless and Bella doesn't seem to mind flying one little bit! Good luck. |
Here's a very helpful thread on the topic http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...och-cabin.html |
There is really a lot of threads in the travel section. I have traveled frequently with the Biewers and have not had any problems except maybe no room for my feet. |
