which weight Chart?????? Food? Hi, more questions from a new mommy. Which weight chart have you guys found to be the most accurate, the one on this site or the one that says whatever they weigh at twelve weeks, double it. There is about a three pound difference in them. I guess it really is a "wait and see" game. Also, Ceeby is not eating again. The vet said today for me to stick with one kind of food, best to do kibble, and leave it out. If he gets really hungry, he will eat. So I questioned him about the dangers of hypoglycemia with that method and he said to keep giving him the Nutracal early morning and late night. That is what I have been doing with the nutracal. I admit, I have jumped around all over the place on the dog food. I have tried everything people on here have suggested. I have even cooked chicken for him. Nothing works. he will eat a bite or two then stop. he does not like to eat out of hus little metal bowl either. it has to be off my finger or off the floor. he acts like he is scared of the dish but has no problem drinking water from one. I know I have had a lot of questions and I thank you for putting up with me. |
My opinion (and that's all it is :D ) is that it is a wait and see thing. There are so many different sized yorkies I don't know how anyone could possibly predict an adult weight. There are so many variances, just as there are in humans. Some are finer-boned than others. Some are longer than others. Some are stouter than others. Some are taller than others. Plus, on top of all of that you have some who eat a lot more than others and it also depends on what they're eating. As I said, this is just my opinion, but it is also a lifetime's experience with little doggies. :D |

I just switched Millies's dry food to Chicken Soup for dogs and I though I would have to transition her into this from her old food, but she loved it so much, 1st time eating it, she actually ate around the old food. so if you have not tried this brand I might give it a try. I was very suprised how much she liked it. |
which Thanks for your replies. I have tried the flat saucer but he won't even get close enough to smell the food. i would like to try the dog food you mentioned. The nearest pet shop is over two hours away and even petSmart there doesn't carry this brand. I did find the Authority brand (wet) which he ate once or twice. As picky as he is, I hate to pay ten-fifteen dollars for a small bag of dog food and have to throw it away. This is what I have run into so far. |

As far as the eating from a dish thing .. I hear yah... Sometimes my new kittens will NOT use a dish and would rather starve to death if I didn't feed with my hands. I found(finally) that if I fed off a napkin or papertowel they would eat ...Go figure :rolleyes: Then I would kind of edge them into using a bowl by offering both for awhile until I see them using the bowl more frequently, then I take away the papertowel. I also hear you on the dry food thing. When I first got Cowboy he was eating Royal Canin. Then he decided pretty quick he wouldn't eat it and I went through TONS of other stuff. I hated the bags I had to buy when there were no samples. . Finally I just went ahead and fed him people food . He would ALWAYS eat that and I ALWAYS have leftover meat and veggies and stuff. I tried mixing in kibble but he would just pick through it :( . Now after a couple months he does OK with eating people food and kibble food and has adjusted fine. I actually can feed him kibble only if we are not cooking home. Just make sure to do a google for poisonous foods to dogs if you do human. |

I finally found the sample size of Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul at a local FEED store. Can you believe that? They had sample sizes of several different brands. Mrry Christmas! |
I went through 10 years of the feeding frenzy and buying every dog food on the market. Both my picky eaters love the Natural Balance beef rolls. To try it, get the little ones (1.00 each) or the 1/2 pound one so you don't waste it if they don't like it. It comes in 4 sizes and keeps real well refrigerated. I keep the smaller ones for travel unrefrigerated until opened. I got some of those little plastic nut trays for mine to rat out of and they love them. They were just 1.00 each at the dollar store. Mine don't like getting their face into a bowl either (except the water - they love it). |
