What To Use For Ants? Does anyone have any suggestions for non-toxic removal of ants? We've got the little ants and fire ants...Apple and Buzz both seem to root around in the grass, so it's got to be safe...Thanks... |
We have them too!!! I could send Cooper over to you, she eats them when they are within her reach. :) We have the kitchen ants (piss ants, I always called them). I look forward to seeing posts to this thread. |
an ardvark or an anteater would do well, no sorry just being stupid, I have used vinegar, (on concrete) they hate that but not sure how it would affect your lawn. |
Corn meal is supposed to work on ants. They apparently will take it away with them eat it, but cannot digest it and it will kill off the nest. You could put up a pen of some sort on your grass to keep the dogs out of the corn meal but hte corn should attract the ants. It won't hurt the dogs if a little gets spread around. |

Check out www.gardensalive.com - it has environmentally safe garden products. Here is what they have for ants: LIQUID ANT KILLER Just put a few drops on ant trails and in cracks and crevices. Ants eat the bait with borax and carry it back to their colony. Bye-bye ants! There's also diatomaceous earth that you can try and www.planetnatural.com has a liquid and killer similar to the one at Gardens Alive. |
for ants inside the house up on counters and under sinks and away from precious yorkies Terro works amazing. apply a drop onto some cardboard and keep under sink or up on counter tops and it gets rid of all of them really fast. they take it back to the nest and kills all of em' worked great and didn't hurt the pups. good luck |

Corn meal (a 5 lb box/ acre) works well. The ants take it back to their nests, where it gets eaten. The meal then swells in side of them, killing the ants. You can also pour it directly on to mounds. Also for mounds- pour boiling water in to them, too. That way you are sure to get the queen. Another tip to keep them from coming in to the house is to lay down a barrier with either ground up chalk or Cinnamon. They won't cross it for some reason. |

i'd just find places around the yard that the dogs can't get to and put the corn meal there, in various spots. I had the corn meal in little piles around my patio and front door and morgan didn't even bother with them after i told her no the first time she investigated. |
