Grooming? Ha! I've got a live wire on my hands Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post. I just adopted my second Yorkie - Daisy. sweetheart, of course. She is nine weeks old (I know - I've since learned that a reputable breeder would not let a puppy go until she is at least 10 to 12 weeks old but.......the deed is done). My first Yorkie was a lamb - loved to be cuddled - and grooming her was a breeze. She would just lay on the table and sometimes even fell asleep during the grooming. Not Daisy. When I first saw Daisy at the breeders, I made sure that the puppy would lay still in my arms while I rubbed her tummy. I so wanted to be able to groom her myself. I don't know what happened to that sweet Yorkie I first cuddled but somewhere along the line she became a live wire. Will NOT lay in my arms - unless she is completely worn out. She wiggles and fights until I let her down. Has anyone any suggestions as to how I can "tame" her so that I can groom her? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
I understand you completely.. I just got a second yorkie too.. Maggie does'nt stay still for anything... I try to brush her and put a bow in her hair.. but she doesn't stay still long enough... now my first yorkie Timba was the same way.. he never liked to be groomed .. so I have to send him to the groomers and she said he stays still I guess it was just me he did'nt want to stay still for.. I think we both need some good luck our way... maggie is 13 weeks ... It's a lot of work but I love my furbabies to death do us part... :D |
I would play with her and when she has all her shots take her for a walk. :dogzzz: |
Hi fellow Canadian!! Welcome to YT. My Ruby is also extremely active. Cuddles are few and far between. A good romp in the backyard or a play with our other dog usually tires her out. Good luck!:) |
I wear Rhett out before his bath by rolling a tennis ball around the floor. He's funny chasing it all over the place. After a few minutes, he's tuckered out and will let me do my thing. Now the blowdryer on the other hand... |
