Texas Meetup
 
I have noticed that there are more and more people who are joining this site and wanted to suggest that we do a Texas meetup sometime...I live in Dallas and we could meet up here or somewhere more central for everyone!! I would love to meet our fellow Texan yorkies and have a chance to let my girls meet some new friends!! If anyone is interested please let me know and I will start collecting ideas on when and where!!

I live in Fort Worth and I have said before I would love to go to one if someone(else :D ) will plan it. I also have a friend with a yorkie who I know would love to go too. So thats 2 from the DFW area (3 counting you-lil mis magic)

We live in Brenham - halfway between Austin and Houston. Dallas is a little far for me for a meet-up but those of you in the area should go for it! I have to commute two hours round trip every day to work so driving other times for the fun of it is NOT my idea of fun. I dread driving to Dallas maybe twice a year to visit my sister even. You should all definitely try to get together though!

I agree that if we do somewhere in the Dallas/Fort Worth area then the OK people can come down and any Louisiana people can come over....if anyone knows of a good place, like a park or something for it to be held at let me know...

I will help plan it...as long as people actually come!! :rolleyes: LOL

I was thinking we could do it the second weekend in December...that way it is not too close to Christmas or Thanksgiving....if you can make it that weekend let me know so I know if that is a good weekend to choose!!

I will defintely look into that park....does it have a dog run area??/

Actually, this weekend I went to an awesome dog park in Ft. Worth. There was another lady there with 3 yorkies! It was soooo much fun. It would be an awesome place to meet! Trinity doesnt have a fenced in dog area. This place does! Its called Fort Woof Park...heres the info::

Rowdy and I are in Austin and I would love to meet some of you. We might have to have a couple of meet-up locations because Texas is just so darned big. Someone mentioned Brenhem because it is halfway between Austin and Houston - but that doesn' help our DFW and extreme south Texas friends. I would be willing to drive to Ft. Worth - it is much easier and quicker, to get to Ft W from Austin than to get into Dallas. But DFW is probably too far for our south Texas YTers to drive. So, maybe a couple of date and locations might be the ticket! :) Also, I work and travel some in my job so, my ability to come on any given weekend depends on that schedule. But whenever it is, I will try to come!

LOL...We're in TEXAS !! We don't get cold ! hehe ....ooops maybe not ...I think the Dallas area does get colder than Houston - its still HOT here in houston...nice and not scorching though - we could still get a tan if we wanted to :D

This sounds like a way better idea! GOod thinking, I am glad you knew of this place.

I think the second week in December sounds awesome!


WE just need plenty of sweaters and a campfire and we should all be good given it will probotbly be a little cold in December :D lol

Yep, a few different meet-ups are probaby the best idea. Texas is just too darn big for everyone to make a trip to one place. Hope the Dallas area YT-ers get to get together. Like I said before, I would definitely consider hosting one in Brenham (my hometown) in the Spring - with a little help, of course!

Have fun in Dallas! We were there this weekend (Ft. Worth actually) for the Red Stegall Cowboy Gathering (chuckwagon cookoff) and DARN it got cold on Sunday. I'm one of those that consider it COLD when it dips below 70! (wimp!!)

Okay...now that we have a great place to meet up....and a good date set we should be ready to go...I will make a new post that tells the time and date and location so that everyone can sign up! It might be a little cold but with lots of blankets and sweaters we should be fine!!

I thought I remembered that someone said they would be interested in a get together in Brenham in the spring. I'm glad to see that I wasn't just dreaming that!!! We will be going almost to Brenham in March/April for the Warrenton/Round Top antique week. We missed the fall show because my hubby was sick - hope we can make the spring show!!! :p

We usually try to make it to one of those a year too but man, it takes all weekend just to see most of what's offered. They actually start setting up for those shows at least a week beforehand (if not more) so you can actually get a jump on most people and go early. We'll definitely talk about a meet-up (at my house) when Spring approaches. Brenham doesn't have any "dog parks" that I'm aware of so I would feel a lot safer meeting in my big fenced "yard". We live in the country but an acre around the house is fenced so everyone should feel safe.

Yep, we usually go the weekend before the advertized time, (April, Oct) and we concentrate on Warrenton as there is a wider variety of things in Warrenton (and cheaper too). We've actually taken our 5th wheel to LaGrange and stayed a few days, just to have more time to look around. It would take me the entire 10 days or so to see all of it! There's even lots of things to do in the little surrounding towns like Fayetville, Giddings, etc. It's quite an event, if you are into antiquing!!!
