Here We Go......... Today I picked up my book 'How To Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days', got my bell by the door and am going to hit the floor running in the am. It is going to be very hard because you have to keep them confined for so long during the day. My puppies are used to being by my side 24/7. I don't know who is going to cry the loudest, me or them! I decided everytime I get weak and want to let them out of their little jail, I will just keep thinking about all the pee and poop I have stepped in all thnru my house. Yep, that should do it..... |
Thats right be strong, you can do this. Remember it's for them to, they need a clean environment too. |
OMG.....this is hard and it is only the first day!!! My baby has been crying for 2 hours, and I still have 1 hour to go before I can let them out of their pen. This is killing me. Please tell me it gets easier. These 7 days are going to seem like 7 years!! |
I don't mean to be a Negative Nellie, but the book didn't work for me. :( |
All right. I want a day by day accounting of how this goes.:D |

Me too! Two of mine are still using pads but I think it is unfair to confine the other two! |
It's the confining that gets me. They are in the pen 4 hrs at a time. By the time bedtime comes, they won't even be tired. I did just finish moping and waxing the kitchen, den and foyer. It sure looks good. That just helped me to try harder. I think I am making too much out of it. It seems to bother me more than them. |
Come on you can do this, be strong. It's so hard to hear them cry but just like human babies sometimes you have to do things for there own good. If you need more floors to clean to keep yourself busy, I'll let you do mine.HAHA:D:D |
keep us updated if this works I'm going to have to buy the book :D |

I will be right there......so not I am so proud of myself, I made it thru the first day!!! 6 more to go..... |
Be strong!! Hang in there. Life is good after the potty training :) |
Where did you get the book? We are getting ready to move to Illinois and we rented a house. I need to get my furbabies trained before we go. |

Thanks alot......I was about to get real excited!!!! hehehe |
I wonder if it would work on a 5-year-old rescue that likes to go hide and do her business. |

If you follow the schedule in the book strictly, it is supposed to work on any age dog. But, I am having a problem keeping them crated 7 hours a day since I am home with them. |

You know, I trained our gsd pretty quickly by keeping him leashed and connected to my belt loop. I think the idea behind all training is to really watch them closely and keep a routine going. |
It just takes consistancy. I just retrained a 5 yr old using crate training. I did have to confine her for 2 weeks but she got it |

I had to start all over on the 7 days to housebreak your puppy. My grandchildred were here for several days last week, and, well, they had to play with the puppies. So yesterday was my first full day w/the training, and all went pretty well. They didn't like the crate, and told me about it in so many ways. hehehe I am using a pack-n-play as a crate with both beds inside. It didn't take Tyler long to figure out how to climb out. I had to put a baby gate across the top. Here's praying all goes well today. |
OK! We're starting over. I still want a day to day play on this method.:D |

Okay, I'm on the edge of my seat... Update Pleeaassee! |
i'm considering getting this book. she doesn't have accidents or anything, and i take her out on a regular schedule, but when i leave the house and put her in her pen, she uses her pee pad and then acts like a cat and folds it over or puts things on top of it to cover the smell!! i would prefer if she just waited for me to return and i would take her out. i'm never gone more than about 4 hours or so. is it for crate training specifically? also, how is everything going? |
