She's gorgeous, this cut grows out to a puppy cut in about three months, it looks good the whole time it's growing out. I think the main thing is that the legs don't look as fragile or thin as they do in some puppy cuts.

Sophie Kate has a "Joey" cut also, I was never sure what to call it but The Joey works for me.

Sophie Kate looks very much like Zhoie (sp) with the black back (still waiting for that silver hair).

We need to let the hair on the legs get a little longer.

Libby would look great with the Joey!

Sophie Kate and Zhoie do look so much alike!

My 1st attempts left her back hair longer, but it really looks great when shaved close. We are still growing leg hair too. I want hers long like Joey's, LOL. :thumbup:

I think all the babies look adorable in this cut. I cut my 2 down last week like this and love it! I was going to finish up the cut this weekend and take some pictures. I've been wanting to grow Maggie out but we've been finding ticks on them off came the hair. I just love the shaved body! it took a lot longer to shave them down as they had their "long" coats on them from last year so I decided to give them a break and cut them down in 2 groomings as not stress them too much.

After thinking this over, I'm not sure if calling it the "Joey" is a good idea, I guess it depends how savvy your groomer is, and if she's heard about the world famous Joey.

Here's a couple of other popular Joey's:

if the groomer has this in mind, you might be a little disappointed.

Unless your groomer is world class, you might just want to call it, Modified Schnauzer with a puppy head. :D

I think the ladies would look adorable in this cut especially with a top knot
and bow like Adie, our butt winning girl.
If she was not sporting a bow in that famous picture of her's I would
swear that was my Buddy.:p

Can't wait to see pictures! I want to try this style on at least some of my 4 poochies. They are all a little short already from their April 1st grooming, so they need to grow some leg hair to get the look.

I've been grooming Schnauzers for 15 years, so this looks like something I could do. I will be looking to you, Nancy and the others for guidance about the lines above the legs and chest.

Hope to see a whole collection of photos of Yorkies with the Joey (or modified Schnauzer)! They are adorable, or should I say handsome (for boys).

I hate to bother but... I just love this cut and I think it would be great on Shayna. Would it be possible to post some other views of Joey and if you can maybe explain what blades or any info. We want to try this ourselves, but to be honest I'm pretty skiddish about it. DH seems to be braver. She's pregnant so I really don't want to go to the groomer right now. So any info on how to's would be greatly appreciated. I always get sad when losing all her beautiful hair, but know it's for the best.

Ok, so I ordered the # 7 blade for my Oster trimmer as I undstand this is the blade I need to get the saddle hair shaved down. With my clip-ons the smallest one with is 1/8 doesn't get it to the shaved look. That is what I'm trying to achieve too....like Joey, LOL.

Now, how far up the back of the head, how far down the leg area is still a puzzle to me. I guess I will try it until I get it where I want it.

Unless, of course....wonderful Ms. Nancy shares some other views with us and I then I may get a better idea what where to shave to.

Will let you all know how it goes. Best of luck with you try too.

its a really good cut for Molly as she has a chunky body. If her legs are trimmed too much she looks out of proportion. Short body hair and fluffy legs balances her out! :) :thumbup:

I saw a cute little girl with that cut on Friday. They also left the hair really long on her tail and braided it. She was adorable.

I love Joey, he's such a little doll-baby.

we may have to change the name of this forum to the "Joey Cut Forum" lol.....I tried this on Shay, last time I groomed him, I didn't get his body as short, as I am learning, and his leg hair wasn't long enough...but this next groom I think we may have it!!! whohooooo...I LOVE IT!
