Dog park rule breakers rant Ugh why cant people just follow the rules. My parents and me took Callie to the dog park sunday and our dog park has a small dog section and a big dog section, and on the gate of the small dog section it even says no dogs over 25 pounds. Well first problem was everyone was bring in there little kids which your not supposed to do and they where running chasing the dogs and were being sorta rough with some of the dogs. Then three kids who where older but not over 13 came in with a husky that was sorta a puppy I guess but pretty much full grown even after some of the other people in the small dog side said theres not supposed to be any dogs over 25 pounds in here well the dad who was sitting at a picnic table reading his magazine maybe three feet from the dog park just ignored it. The dog then was growling at the kids who brought it in and we just decided to leave. The dog didnt have a collar or anything they had a rope tied around its neck and left the rest hanging down to use has a leash and just let him walk around dragging it behind. Callie has no problems with kids or bigger dogs but the bigger dog was growling and I just didnt want to take any chances. It just sucks for all us people who follow the rules to have people come in and brake them. We did get to see a yorkiepoo puppy tho that was so cute but kinda scared of the other dogs so Callie slowly went over and they touched noses and chilled for a bit :D |
I feel your pain! I was at the dog park with Armani one day and someone brought a pitbull into the small dog side because it wasnt good with big dogs  |
Most dog parks are city owned and you can report to the police. I know in Arizona they were having a lot of problems with these issues and the police started driving by. This is not a safe enviornment for dogs, children or adults. |
That's a shame :( I know our dog park also has the big/small sides, and sometimes (mostly weekends) dogs look a bit too big to be in the small section, but luckily we haven't encountered any problems yet. Ours allow older dogs in the small dog section as well (regardless of how big they are). I don't mind the large breed pups in there because they could be injured by the big dogs, but if they are growling and being aggressive, that should be a clue! Weekends also bring kids into the park  and I think you're supposed to be over 8 w/ parental supervision to go in there but I've seen younger. I'm gonna admit... I was a "rule breaker" at the yorkie 'meet up' we had at Quiet Waters. LOL. I had little treats and towards the end (we had already been there for almost 2 hours) I was giving some to Jackson and ONLY him.... the place had kinda fizzled out, it wasn't too crowded so there wasn't a bagillion dogs or anything. And this chick comes up behind me, taps me on the shoulder, and says snobbishly "Food is NOT allowed in here!" I was like "I wasn't giving any to your dog" lol. But whatever! |
