Need some advice My little baby Maddie is 6 months old today (boy time flies) and she is getting spayed and having some teeth pulled on the 26th. I though I'd be ok - but I'm starting to get anxious about it. She has to stay the night, but there is 24 hour care - but what should I expect when she comes home. I took a few vacation days to spend with her but I still would like to be prepared. Any tips on what I should have ready, what to do and what to expect? |
When Roxanne was spayed we didn't have any problems. She came back the next day, and just rested for a day, But after that she was back to her old self. :) |
When my little Raisin was spayde she was absolutely fine, you could not even see where the incision was. She had no bandage or anything. The Vet did keep her over night, and the only instructions were to not let her jump, which was no problem because she was always such a docile little angel. I saw no difference in her at all, but was very careful not to let her walk to much for a couple of weeks, just because I am overly cautious. Sue |
Mellie also spent the night when she was spayed. She had internal stiches so I didn't have to worry about her licking the area. She slept the first day she came home and was back to her normal self the next day. |
3 Attachment(s) I had both of mine spayed at the same time (figured it be easier - wouldn't have to worry about one hurting the other...) Dixie did fine.. even tried to jump on the couch that same afternoon. Daisha, on the other hand, had a harder time of recovering... she ran a fever and refused to eat. For 2 days it was very scary, and I spent a lot of time on the phone with the vet. They had the dissolving stitches, so they didn't have to go back to have anything removed. The first 2 pictures are of them the afternoon they had the surgery.. the last one is of them "sunning" the next day. |
It's scary but don't worry. I'm glad mine stayed overnight because they watched them closely. She might be a little wobbly. Try to keep her from jumping on things and let her sleep it off. You'll get some pain pills but mine did not need them. Lacey had 4 teeth removed too but I don't think it mattered she seemed fine within a day. |
