Welcome!! :) |
Welcome to YT! Glad to have you here~ This is a great place to learn how to care for your new companion....but none of us here could EVER prepare you for the way a Yorkie will steal your heart. So brace yourself. :luvu:I've had various breeds of dogs throughout my life, but none can compare to the sweet nature of this breed in my opinion. If you research every breed of dog known to man, you will find that they all have significant issues and needs to address. In my particular experience the thing that was foremost was finding a food that my puppy liked that was good for her. I have to say that is still an ongoing issue. My Callie is picky and that is a common trait it seems in Yorkies. Then again, I've heard of some who will eat anything you put in front of them. Research the top rated foods and hopefully this will not be an issue for your new baby~ Until they reach a certain age, Hypoglycemia is a real threat and danger for these tiny babies. Learn about the warning signs of this and prepare for it by keeping Nutrical or even some corn syrup on hand to rub on their gums. Be sure to "puppy proof' your home. They can get into things you would never imagine them getting into. You will find ALL KINDS of advice about housetraining....from crate training, to puppy pads to bell training. It will depend on your unique situation as to what you decide to go with. I went with Puppy Pads because I work during the day and was not home to take her out to potty and didn't want to leave her in a crate for that many hours. It has worked well for me but if you are fortunate enough to be home w/yours then you may want to look into other methods. If you ever need anything or have a question, the Fur~Momma's on here are great and willing to help any way we can...so just ask!! At this very moment my Callie is snuggled up just as close to me and she can get and I love it!~ :aimeeyork:p |
Welcome to YT! Enjoy it here! |
