I just realized..... I just realized I take way better care of my dogs than I do myself. They eat better healtheir food than I do. They get vitamins and purified water. If a cheetto and a carrot were side by side they would pick the carrot. I think about there health way more than mine. This all just dawned on me today when I was in the kitchen lookin for somethin to eat and all I found was dog food and dog care products while I had nothing But a hot pocket in the freezer that is full of preservatives. If I spent the same energy I spend on my dogs health buying and finding out whats in my food and what goes in my mouth I would be as healthy and as fit as them. Think I need to take more time out for mommy. They even have more clothes than I do |
I know what you mean, they become our babies don't they? But... you must take care of yourself. Tell yourself, you have to eat properly too, so that you are fit and well to look after your little dogs. |
I know what you are saying. Between my son and my dogs .. . . all of my energy goes to taking care of them. |
Glad to hear I'm not alone - been having a rough spell but the girls eat homecooked chicken and have everything they need - while some nights I have hardly anything but a frozen dinner or PB&J - |
Yeah...right there along with ya ;) |
I'm right there with ya! I find myself eating a pizza... yet I'm giving Jackson the healthiest food I can find, etc. I need to care as much about MY health as my dog. lol |
That's why humans who are blessed enough to have a "hair ball with teeth" companion.....live longer, happier, healthier, more fulfilled lives. Your blessed enough. The endorphins you release just holding them "heart beat to heart beat".....lowers you blood pressure, heart rate and respirations. Plus it wards off the "blues". It reduces your irritations by half and increases your "joy level" by 10 fold. It creates a Zen state just knowing they are safe and all their needs are met. Gucci can't even do that. |
Same here! I know the feeling. I was explaining to my parents what Dasuquin is, the joint supplement my dogs take... and they asked why I dont take something like that, lol... I have a bad knee... I said I probably should but it would require some research and I spend all my time researching for my dogs, :p I would much rather spend my time and money on them. |

I could not agree more. Last night I woke up around 4 and was feeling anxious about a bad dream I had. He was sleeping in his bed but somehow sensed I was wasn't just right. He woke up and ran up the doggy stairs and wiggled under the covers with me. He put his heart next to mine and feeling that comforted me and put me right back to sleep. :animal-pa |
I totally agee. One of my goals is to treat myself as well as I treat Thor! |
Same here, Bailey gets better treatment then I do, lucky guy! :p |
I'm so guilty of this too. |
I think we are all guilty of this in one way or another thankfully i have my brother and sister who live with me so we always have human food in the house |

And you are not alone. The only time I really go shopping for food is for my furbabies. I can go months without going to the grocery store but I can't let my babies go without food. I they type of pet owner that will rush to the vet if they don't eat for one day while I could be in pain and will do everything possible not to go to the doctors ( I hate going to the doctors). But I am trying to get better with take care of myself and you should too. Remember....you can't take care of them unless you take care of yourself first. |
i know what everyone here is saying. I do so much research on the things that are good for that i forget about myself. I just realized that it doesn't bother me buying shampoo that's $10 for them but when it comes to my shampoo i don't want to spend more than $5 .lolz My sister starting telling me that i should spend time on getting myself to eat healthier so that i can always be there for them, because if I'm sick there's no one in the house who will care for them like i do. |
I know exactly what you mean! My dogs eat a PMR diet, no kibble here! And I just spent a small fortune on shampoo's and grooming products for them meanwhile I got my shampoo at the dollar store! |

I talked to bf about going on the yorkie diet. Eating only what I would feed Uni. Well that thought quickly died out. I wouldn't be able to eat anything! I stock up on $1 banquet frozen dinners so Uni and Katie can eat their good healthy food! I think they even get baths more often than I do! |

Oooooh, what is it? Shampoo/Conditioner is probably one area where I spend more on myself than Thor. I'm a die hard Bumble & Bumble fan, whereas Buddy Wash works really well for him. I tried more expensive shampoos, but they either left him too dry, or smelled too strong. Anyway, I would like a tearless shampoo/conditioner for Thor's face. Not that Buddy Wash has been a problem, but it's a good excuse to spend money on him. :D |

Heh. And now it's in my Amazon shopping cart. :D Shipping is 50% of the cost, so I might have to suck it up and buy it in the store... I hate paying for shipping. Is there conditioner too? I just see shampoo. |
Have not seen conditioner, but that was about a year ago, so I guess the $18 was worth it, and I still got some left... a little bit. Good thing their faces are small. I just downgraded my Boscia ($28) moisturizer to Loreal ($8). Not that there's anythign wrong with Loreal, but you know.... I try to avoid Sephora like the plague now. Oh, I hate paying for shipping too. |
This thread is sad... so sad:D If my dogs ate what I ate they'd be in the hospital all the time. Actually that's a given... No, you know what it is more than anything? I don't want to waste time cooking, I mean it's good when I do cook, but I'd rather be playing with my babies or fixing their food! I'll just grab something quick so I can get back to playing, bathing, brushing and combing!:p |
