Is your yorkie afraid of flying bugs? Last weekend we went camping and there was a big fly in the camper and it must have grazed Toby's face because he went absolutely nutso! He jumped down off the couch and rubbed his face across the entire living room carpet and started looking for a place to hide. Then tonight at home my husband was making a buzzing sound like a bee or a fly and he started acting all crazy like he did last weekend. Does anyone else's furbutt do this? It was funny to us but it sure wasn't funny to him. Poor little guy was scared. And it's not even summer yet. I don't know what he's going to do this summer when we go camping and the flies are really out and about! |
George is terrified My baby hate flies and blow flies, he runs to me with his tail and ears down absolutely petrified, not sure why is it an inbred reaction in case they get fly blown, I'll keep a watch on this thread (hope you don't mind)and see what other answers come up. |

I have nothing to offer since Pebbles is my bug eater. Want me to send her over to give Toby a lesson. :D |
Yes, would you please send Pebbles over???????????????? |
Mine try to catch them and eat them, any kind of flying bugs, they love them!! |
My friend's dog (not a Yorkie but a Chi) is terrified of flies. It's so funny, once she sees one she immediately runs under something to hide. |
No, bugs go not bother her. In Arizona, she attacked a rather large Tarantula....we pulled her off it, and it took a few blows with a shovel to finally end the battle. She is really not afraid of anything, but she hates vacuums (she attacks the cleaning head), and prefers if the door bell does not work. Outside of that, nothing bothers her. Even thunder has no effect, but the big dog runs upstairs and lays in the corner. Go figure. |
Pennys first encounter with a bug was mommy going Penny this is a ladybug...showing her my finger her reply was...mmm ladybugs r yummy shes LOVES to chace the butterflies around the front yard she isnt very observent or she would figure out about snails, rollie pollies, slugs, spiders and anything else at her level....mommy isnt teaching her about bug anymore. She is also scared out of her mind of the vac and anything loud like that ...and carpet sprinkles " the carpet deodorizer stuff " she runs like hell when it starts falling from the box :( |
I don't think being scared of bugs is a bad thing, because Apple used to be so aggressive w/flying insects, until a bee stung her in the bottom lip...Fortunately, I saw it happen, and was able to pull the stinger out, before the poison had a chance to get into her system...She still looks at bugs w/a wantin' look in her eye, but is more cautious now (Thank Goodness!) |
Camden is not afraid, but Wrigley & Crosley are! If they can catch the fly they are ok, but if it's buzzing around, they get freaked out! |
nope.. tucker likes to chase them down and eat them. He must of gotten stung 6 plus times last year trying eat bee's and spiders.. |
Unfortunately, Rhett wants to chase flying bugs. That has me worried because I've already done the emergency rush to the vet for an epinephrine drip with Sammy. |
interesting.. maybe i should experiment this by letting Tiffie loose in the garden  im more afraid that she will chew up my mother's plants -______- that will be gg.. for her... and me... -____- |
So far this year (her first summer!) Indy's been fascinated by those big furry bumblebees. She doesn't try to eat them, she just shnuffles up them and follows them around. |
